Hive Open Mic 111 | This Little Town | Cover

This wonderful song by @ebingo was a tear-jerker the first time I heard him perform it on open mic. It is relatable to us Nigerians and the situation surrounding the birth of the song is what we try to run away from everyday.

I live in Kaduna, the city where the train bombing occurred. It was horrific to find out that people had died on the same train I regularly used. The attacks became even more real to me and the government's response to the situation shows that we're done for.

We're at the point where we've given up on trying to make Nigeria great again and the only way to help ourselves out is by moving on. It's sad but we've lost hope.

This song is a tribute to Dr. Chinelo, I didn't know her but I dreamt of her nights after the sad event. It was reported that she was supposed to travel out of the country the next week, for greener pastures I suppose. She wanted to move on from this small town, but it all came falling down right at the tail end.

For Chinelo and the 900+ victims and injured ones.

Esta maravillosa canción de @ebingo me hizo llorar la primera vez que lo escuché interpretarla en un micrófono abierto. Es identificable para nosotros los nigerianos y la situación que rodea el nacimiento de la canción es de lo que tratamos de huir todos los días.

Vivo en Kaduna, la ciudad donde ocurrió el atentado al tren. Fue horrible descubrir que la gente había muerto en el mismo tren que usaba regularmente. Los ataques se volvieron aún más reales para mí y la respuesta del gobierno a la situación muestra que estamos acabados.

Estamos en un punto en el que hemos renunciado a intentar que Nigeria vuelva a ser grandiosa y la única forma de ayudarnos es seguir adelante. Es triste pero hemos perdido la esperanza.

Esta canción es un homenaje a la Dra. Chinelo, no la conocía pero soñé con ella noches después del triste suceso. Se informó que se suponía que viajaría fuera del país la próxima semana, supongo que en busca de pastos más verdes. Ella quería seguir adelante desde este pequeño pueblo, pero todo se derrumbó justo al final.
