Gameplay: Brazil champion in Nintendo 64 World Cup 98 [ENG/ESP]

Continuing with the retro games, this time I show you one of my favorite games, at the time of the Nintendo 64, it is World Cup 98, special game for the World Cup 98, edition that took place in France. And from that time I remember with great emotion this World Cup, both for the fact of following the selection of Brazil, and on the other hand the fact of video games as such, in a few years where all these aspects, as children we were very passionate about.

As I show in the gameplay, it is a friendly game between France vs Brazil, just like the final of that World Cup, where the champion for the first time would be France, but for this occasion I selected Brazil, who could beat France 1-2, like showing an alternate final, if in that opportunity Brazil won, who had a great team, but could not beat France with Zidane and other recognized players of that time.

Siguiendo con los juegos retro, en esta ocasión les muestro unos de mis juegos favoritos, en la época del Nintendo 64, se trata de World Cup 98, juego especial para el mundial de fútbol del 98, edición que se realizó en Francia. Y de esa época recuerdo con mucha emoción este mundial de fútbol, tanto por el hecho de seguir a la selección de Brasil, y por otro lado el hecho de los videojuegos como tal, en unos años donde todos esos aspectos, siendo niños nos apasionaba mucho.

Así como muestro en el gameplay, se trata de un juego amistoso entre Francia vs Brasil, al igual como la final de ese mundial, donde el campeón por primera vez sería Francia, pero para esta ocasión seleccioné a Brasil, quien pudiera ganarle a Francia 1-2, como mostrar una final alterna, si en esa oportunidad fuese ganado Brasil, quien tenía un gran equipo, pero que no pudo contra Francia de Zidane y entre otros jugadores reconocidos de ese tiempo.

Now, this game was developed and distributed by EA Sports, who had obtained the license from FIFA in 1997, to make this title in 1998, which was available for PC, Nintendo 64 and Playstation. Of course, this gamaplay is about the Nintendo 64 version, cartridge that I got to have in my hands when I had the Nintendo 64 console. Besides being the first soccer game, I played with a 3d view, because previously soccer games had a bird's eye view.

Of course nowadays the graphics of soccer games are very impressive, to the point that the players look almost real, and even the way they move on the field, is as they did in real life, but we are talking about the late 90's, where playing these games, was the most impressive and modern. I certainly spent a lot of time playing this game with my friends and also when I was alone.

Ahora, este juego fue desarrollado y distribuido por EA Sports, quienes habían obtenido la licencia de parte de la FIFA en 1997, para realizar este título en 1998, que estuvieron disponible para PC, Nintendo 64 y Playstation. Por supuesto, este gamaplay se trata de la versión de Nintendo 64, cartucho que llegue a tener en mis manos cuando tenía la consola de Nintendo 64. Además de ser el primer juego de fútbol, que jugué con una vista en 3d, debido a que anteriormente los juegos de futbol tenían como vista de pájaro.

Por supuesto actualmente las gráficas de los juegos de fútbol, son muy impresionantes, hasta llegar el punto de que los jugadores se ven casi reales, e incluso la manera como se mueven en el terreno, es como lo hicieran en la vida real, pero estamos hablando de a finales de los años 90, donde jugar estos juegos, era los más impresionante y moderno. Sin duda, pasé mucho tiempo jugando este juego con mis amigos y también cuando estaba solo.

I remember that this game, in the case of the Nintendo 64, could be played with 4 people, and everyone could select between the two teams to compete, they could even play 3 people against 1, as well as in this game they have the option to play friendlies, the tournament mode of the World Cup 98, penalties and the mode to play the World Cup from 1930 to Spain 1982. So you could find a whole retrospective of legendary players in previous eras of world soccer.

In this case, during the game I was a little lost with the controls, but in the end I was able to win, with a first goal by Ronaldo, although later France would tie and we would go to extra time, until in the second extra time, the victory would be sealed with a second goal by Ronaldo, when before there was the golden goal rule. Thus, this would be the alternate final if Brazil had won this World Cup, and I remember that as a child I cried because Brazil had not won this World Cup, although we would later see Brazil lift the cup 4 years later, in the World Cup in Korea and Japan 2002.

Recuerdo que este juego, en el caso del Nintendo 64, se podía jugar con 4 personas, y todos podían seleccionar entre los dos equipos a competir, incluso hasta podían jugar 3 personas contra 1, así como también en dicho juego tienen la opción de jugar amistosos, el modo del torneo del mundial del 98, penaltis y el modo para jugar mundiales de 1930 hasta el el España 1982. Por lo cual se podía encontrar todo una retrospectiva de jugadores legendarios en épocas anteriores del fútbol mundial.

En este caso, durante el juego estaba u poco perdido con los controles, pero al final pude ganar, con un primer gol de Ronaldo, aunque luego empataria Francia y nos iríamos a tiempo extra, hasta que en el segundo tiempo extra, se sellaria la victoria con un segundo gol de Ronaldo, cuando antes existía la regla del gol de oro. De esta forma, así sería la final alterna si Brasil fuese ganado este mundial, y recuerdo que siendo niño lloré porque Brasil no había ganado este mundial, aunque luego veríamos a Brasil levantar la copa 4 años después, en el mundial de Corea y Japón 2002.
