Hive Open Mic Greetings to everyone from week 122. This week's theme is local tradition. Most of the musical works that I have presented to you here for weeks were a part of Turkey's unique folk culture. This week's theme fits my musical style exactly, and that's why I wanted to prepare a piece from very old examples of folk culture and share it in the 112th week.

The name of the work I prepared is Çeke Çeke. This group of words does not have an exact equivalent in English, but it is possible to associate it with a situation such as suffering. The most important feature of this song is that it is widely known in a religious group in Turkey. There are many different movements in Islam, as there are sects such as Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Protestantism, etc. in Christianity, and about a quarter of the people in Turkey have a style of belief called Alevism. Alevism is a humanist belief that focuses on people and human love, but has been subjected to many pressures. They also have different and very rich traditions. The instrument you see in my hand is a different type of baglama in the form of an ax used in Alevi worship.

Many folk poets were also trained in this belief and they wrote a great number of folk poems. One of the folk poets who grew up in Alevism is Pir Sultan Abdal (16th century AD). The words of the piece called Çeke Çeke, which I played and sang, also belong to Pir Sultan Abdal. In general, the content of the words is related to Hz. Ali (7th century AD). Hz. Ali is one of the personalities who have the most important position in Alevism and one of the leaders of the Alevi faith. He is also son-in-law of Hz. Muhammad who is Prophet of Islam. For example, at the end of each stanza, "If you love Ali, don't touch me." says. I do not have the opportunity to translate the words into English in a healthy way, because it is almost impossible for me to translate the work because it is a very traditional and religious work of 500 years. I seek your understanding on this matter.

Hive Open Mic 122. haftadan herkese selamlar. Bu haftanın teması yerel gelenek. Benim haftalardır burada sizlere sunduğum müzikal eserlerin çoğu Türkiye'nin kendine has halk kültürünün bir parçası idi. Bu haftaki tema tam olarak benim müzik tarzıma da uyuyor ve bu sebeple halk kültürünün çok eski örneklerinden bir eser hazırlayarak 112. haftada paylaşmak istedim.

Hazırladığım eserin ismi Çeke Çeke. Bu kelime grubunun İngilizce'de tam olarak bir karşılığı yok fakat dert çekmek gibi bir durumla bağdaştırmak mümkün. Bu türkünün en önemli özelliği Türkiye'deki inançsal bir grubun içerisinde çokça bilinmesi. Hristiyanlık içerisinde katoliklik, ortodoksluk, protestanlık, vb mezhepler olduğu gibi İslamiyet içerisinde de birçok farklı akım var ve Türkiye'deki insanların yaklaşık dörtte biri Alevilik olarak isimlendirilen bir inanç tarzına sahip. Alevilik, merkezine insanı ve insan sevgisini alan fakat birçok baskıya uğramış hümanist bir inanç. Ayrıca birbirinden farklı ve çok zengin gelenekleri var. Elimde görmüş olduğunuz enstrüman da Alevi ibadetlerinde kullanılan balta formu verilmiş farklı türde bir bağlama.

Bu inancın içerisinde birçok halk ozanı da yetişmiş ve çok miktarda halk şiirleri yazmışlar. Alevilik içerisinde yetişen halk ozanlarından birisi de Pir Sultan Abdal (M.S. 16.yy). Çalıp söylediğim Çeke Çeke isimli eserin sözleri de Pir Sultan Abdal'a ait. Sözlerin içeriği de genel olarak Hz. Ali (M.S. 7. yy) ile alakalı. Hz. Ali Alevilik içerisinde en önemli pozisyona sahip kişiliklerden birisi ve Alevi inancının liderlerinden birisi konumunda. İslam peygamberi Hz. Muhammed'in de damadı. Mesela her dörtlüğün sonunda "Seversen Ali'yi, değme yarama." diyor. Sözleri sağlıklı bir biçimde İngilizce'ye çevirme imkanım yok, zira eser 500 yıllık çok geleneksel bir eser olduğu için çevirmem neredeyse imkansız. Bu konuda anlayışınıza sığınıyorum.
