Hive Open Mic Week 103 theme is "Survival". After a few days of thinking about what to do with this theme, the song "girl child" came to my mind. The lyrics of the song belong to the great poet Nazım Hikmet, the composition is by Zülfü Livaneli.
Nazım Hikmet wrote his poem about the girl child about the atomic bomb that exploded in Hiroshima in 1945 during the second world war. He fictionalizes a little girl who died in the explosion in Hiroshima and speaks to humanity through this girl's language. I tried to translate these words, which really affect people deeply, into English. I hope you will listen with interest, bye.
Lyrics:
Poet: Nazım Hikmet
I'm the one knocking on the doors
Doors one by one
I can't be seen in your eyes
Deads are invisible
Since I died in Hiroshima
It's about a decade
I'm a seven year old girl
Dead children do not grow
Before my hair caught fire
My eyes burned
I turned into a handful of ash
My ashes were thrown into the air
I'm knocking on your door
Aunt, uncle, give me an autograph
Children should not be killed
They can also eat sugar
Original record of the song by Zülfü Livaneli:
Hive Open Mic 103. hafta konusu "Survival".
