Hive Open Mic Week 100 | Canta Conmigo | Maviye Çalar Gözlerin by @veliozdemiroglu @okayozdemiroglu

I was quite happy when I saw that the Hive Open Mic week 100 theme was "canta conmigo" (sing with me). A very valuable theme for the 100th week. During the week, we started a serious recording preparation with my brother @okayozdemiroglu. Finally, we made two recordings last night and prepared two separate videos in accordance with the theme of canta conmigo.

In this video I shared, we both played the song "Blue Player Eyes" with our own instruments at the same time and in the same environment. I sang the words too. In the second recording, my brother sang the lyrics while the two of us were playing the song "Sür Umut Tarları" together. Even though he didn't like to sing, he tried his best. This second recording was shared by my brother @okayozdemiroglu. In the meantime, we tried to get as clean a record as we could. While recording, we used a medium level ambient microphone with the Zoom H6 recorder. We will try to continue this and improve our recording technique in the coming weeks.

Let me also talk a little bit about the song "Your Blue Eyes". The song was actually a well-known song twenty or thirty years ago. Protest music artist Ahmet Kaya was a composer and sang. So everyone loved him. The words were written by the famous poet Ahmed Arif.

Poetry or song lyrics are specific to the society and culture in which they belong. They are likely to lose meaning when translated, but I will still try to translate the original Turkish words into English as accurately as I can. Because what emotion the song is talking about, at least this can be understood.

Hive Open Mic 100. hafta teması "canta conmigo" (sing with me) olduğunu gördüğümde oldukça mutlu oldum. 100. hafta için oldukça değerli bir tema. Hafta içerisinde kardeşim @okayozdemiroglu ile ciddi bir kayıt hazırlığına giriştik. Nihayetinde dün akşam iki kayıt yaptık ve canta conmigo temasına uygun iki ayrı video hazırladık.

Benim paylaştığım bu videoda "Maviye Çalar Gözlerin" isimli şarkıyı ikimiz de kendi enstrümanlarımızla aynı anda ve aynı ortamda çalıştık. Ben de sözlerini seslendirdim. İkinci kayıtta ise "Sür Umut Tarlarını" isimli şarkıyı ikimiz birlikte çalarken kardeşim sözlerini seslendirdi. Kendisi şarkı söylemeyi çok sevmese de elinden geleni yaptı. Bu ikinci kayıt ise kardeşim @okayozdemiroglu tarafından paylaşıldı. Bu arada elimizden geldiğince de temiz bir kayıt almaya çalıştık. Kaydı alırken Zoom H6 kayıt cihazıyla birlikte orta seviyede bir ortam mikrofonu kullandık. Önümüzdeki haftalarda da buna devam etmeye ve kayıt tekniğimizi geliştirmeye çalışacağız.

Ayrıca "Maviye Çalar Gözlerin" şarkısından da bir miktar bahsedeyim. Şarkı aslında yirmi veya otuz yıl önce çok bilinen meşhur bir şarkıydı. Protest müzik sanatçısı Ahmet Kaya bestecisiydi ve söylüyordu. Dolayısıyla herkes ondan sevmişti. Sözleri de ünlü şair Ahmed Arif tarafından kaleme alınmış.

Şiir veya şarkı sözleri kendi içinde olduğu topluma ve kültüre özeldir. Tercüme edildiklerinde anlam kaybetme ihtimalleri yüksektir fakat yine de orijinal Türkçe sözleri elimden geldiğince düzgün bir biçimde İngilizceye çevirmeye çalışacağım. Zira şarkı hangi duygudan bahsediyor, en azından bu anlaşılabilsin.
