The righteousness of God cannot be seen as filthy rag. Mt. 6:33 tells us to seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness. If we are doing the righteousness of God, it is a valuable thing.

There is a difference between the righteousness of God and that of man. Lk. 16:15 makes it clear that man's righteousness is seen as an abomination by God.

Those religious leaders who are teaching that it is not necessary to do good works because it's as filthy rag before God are being reckless in their interpretation of the Bible. They are not saying the truth.

The criminal on the cross was justified by faith yet, he was to die that day.
