What is the faith of the thief on the cross? (Part 6 of 7)
What I understand from this Brother Eli's video:

Obedience is putting the word of God into action. Philippians 2:12 says we should work out our salvation. When we obey the word of God by putting it into practice, we're working out our salvation. Your faith alone can only help if you don't have the chance to do the accompanying good works.
We need to grow in Christ by learning how to do good works. These good works are the examples of Jesus such as loving other people, including our enemies. Matthew 25:35-40 spelt out many good works of kindness which gave merit to those accepted in the kingdom.
The thief on the cross had no opportunity of doing any good work after expressing his faith. The point is made clear by Brother Eli, based on the Bible that good works are necessary to get us into heaven, in addition to our faith.
