Quick update on our latest and pretty important development on 3Speak, and why we built it in the first place. I know ads are a controversial topic, especially here on Hive. But this is how we brin...

Hey there, welcome back to my channel. It's 9.30 in the morning. I'm preparing for my day job. I want to use the time to just talk a little bit about the things that have changed on 3Speak. First of all, we have a feedback function, and I want to thank all of you who are using it to give us valuable feedback, mostly, I would say, like, 90% of the feedback is 5 out of 5 stars, which is awesome to see. but sometimes we have some valid constructive feedback and we are executing it so if you have any issue with three speak or if you have any idea you want to point out there is a global feedback function on the bottom right side of the website and if you have something related to the upload you are also asked right after the upload for your feedback I'm very very pleased of all the five star ratings it's really an honor Now a big thing, you may have seen it already, we have ads on 3Speak. The feature is called 3Speak advertise. It is aiming to generate revenue. 4, and now the important part is coming. 50% go to the creators on 3Speak, so people uploading videos actively on 3Speak, earn 50% of the ad revenue. Then 10% go to the viewers. I have not seen any platform that is doing... pay to watch at all. So I think this is a pretty important aspect of ThreeSpeak and it could drive the onboarding rates a bit more. 38% to the ThreeSpeak team. So Mino, myself, ThreeSpeak account, all the upcoming campaigns we are doing and contests we are doing, we will use these funds for. And then we have also something in the making for the onboarding. which is another topic, but just to close this advertisement part up, if you onboard someone with a referral link, which will come later, and this person is booking campaigns, then you will get 2% of this campaign revenue as well in your wallet. These rewards are paid out with regular Hive slash HBD transactions. So if you go in your wallet, and you have been on 3Speak in the past few days, then you will probably see a transfer there. The ads are not only played on new videos, the ads are also played on old videos, so it doesn't matter when you have uploaded something, it could be that you will earn rewards. And this is a huge change, because in the past, a new 3Speak users came to the platform because they thought, oh, cool, new revenue stream for my content I'm creating. and then they recognize, oh, there's only one payout. And after this, the video's done. This has changed with our algorithm, so we are pushing old content to viewers if the content fits their needs, and now you will also get rewarded for it. So I think it's a big step in the direction of the regular web to YouTube user. And of course, YouTube is changing their boundaries all the time, so right now it is discussed or already released, I don't know, I lost track, that you have 8,000 watch hours to even be in the partner program. On 3Speed you can earn from the first minute on for your videos. And if the video is a good video and you're not getting any votes on it, but the video is played and played and played back years after, then you will earn rewards years after. a big change. Of course, we rely on advertisers. So if you have a Hive project, or if you know someone with a Hive project, who could be interested in promoting their project, it is not that expensive. It's like 20 HBD for a 10 second video if it is played for 30 days. If you go to the 3Spec Advertise page, you will also see the impressions, so you can estimate the impressions of your ad campaign. And if we do not meet the calculated impressions, you will get the rest for your next campaign. So this is a huge change. If you want to not benefit from this program as a creator, so if you do not want to have ads on your videos, there is a setting on 3Speak. Just go into the settings, and then you can turn it off. If you want to share something from your rewards with the community you have posted in, then there is also a slider where you can adjust the percentage that is going to the community you have posted in, which is also pretty cool in my opinion and unique on Hive. And if you were a viewer, you need to opt in. So the opposite way, you need to opt in to give us consent that we can store your username and your watch time together. This is important. So if you want a benefit, you need to go to 3Speak TV, activate this option. You will also see a pop-up if you log in. Also, on top of this, you... need to watch videos on 3Speak TV because we have the consent, not ECNC or peak D or whatever. Creators can opt out, viewers can opt in, advertisers can create advertisements for anything you want, so if you want to promote your project, if you want to promote your proposal, your account, your community, a contest, whatever it is, you can promote it on. 3Spe. As I've said, I will make a dedicated video about setting up a campaign. I recorded one already, but it was not working because I forgot to screen record, then the sound was off, then the camera turned off, so it was not meant to be. I will do this on a later day. And another thing I want to talk about, something I'm working on for several months now, is an onboarding solution. This onboarding solution is not tied to 3Speak at all. It is an SDK, so other... front ends can use it. I'm currently reworking and polishing up the documentation for integrators. So if you have an app, you can integrate this new solution into your app. And everyone who is locked in on 3Speak with their, for example, Gmail, they can also easily log in on your platform with Gmail. This is a big issue right now. We have multiple solutions. Every front end is doing their own. And this onboarding solution, It's meant to be usable for everyone. These are the things I'm working on right now. Please tell me what do you think of this camera angle. I think it's super cool. It's a wide angle lens. It's 11 millimeters. It is a prime lens, so I have a pretty cool background blur, but I don't like to see my nose that big. Basically, I could hold this camera like this and vlog. But I'm not a vlogger right now these days. I mean, I'm going out. but I don't carry my camera with me all the time, and I want to change this. Especially, I want to go out more with a purpose, not only buying groceries or going to swim. I want to go out for creative things, because this is clearing my mind, this opens more perspectives on life and nature. and I really miss this. I'm working nine hours a day and after this I'm cooking something or buying groceries and then cooking something and then I go to my notebook and I'm coding like four or five hours and then I'm going to bed and then the next day it continues. So I'm sitting in front of the notebook or the PC like 12 hours at least per day. I feel that I have to change this. Anyway, so I hope this was interesting for you that you got some more insight about my coding life and 3Speak in general, what is happening there. We have so many more things. I cannot cover everything here in this video, and I really know that I need to make videos about the features I'm coding for 3Speak. I will do it. Paul and winter is coming, so I will have more time to record videos, and I will demonstrate each and every new feature that I've developed over the past months. @achim03: I think that you have added a very important layer to 3speak that would allow to bring external money to hive and also allow long term return for creators. I think the bottleneck might be to get enough paying advertiser for this. A solution would be to work as an intermediary for platforms like or I haven't really researched the sector but I saw these platforms on other sites. There are probably quite a lot of options available. Like that you would have a constant stream of income to monetize the platform in addition to the local advertisers. I think nobody would mind to watch an ad if they earned while doing it...
@alfasuenos: Great update, Tibbi! The work you and the team are doing on 3Speak is looking awesome. The ad system is truly spectacular; it helps us not only upload more videos but do it with higher quality—like what you mention about your camera and angles, of course, without showing the nose haha! Honestly, that incentive without so much bureaucracy is fantastic to keep making and projecting quality audiovisual material on our channel. @ph1102: I see nothing wrong with implementing ads on the 3Speak platform! Maybe some other ideas will come up along the way, but currently, getting healthy revenue is the way to go! I hope other platforms, frontends, or dapps in general will follow the example and base their growth on a business model where the value is sold and revenue is shared among participants... Good to see you doing well, and hopefully, you will find more time for some nature walks, as they do clear our minds and bodies... On that note, I should follow this suggestion and do it more often too... hehehehe... I forgot what it looks like to create walk and talk videos, and I was doing those regularly in the past... Oh, the evergreen content will become more and more valuable, as with your revenue sharing model, creators can be paid AFTER the 7 day HIVE payout lock! Good move! PS. I noticed a small bug on 3Speak... When there is an ad inside the video, the transcript on the right side calculates the ad time too, so it's not "synced" with the video (after the ad)... @vynith: As YouTube requirements for monetisation get more ridiculous I'm sure more creators would join 3speak especially since the new ad rollout & shorts. I see more shadowbanned creators moving over here in waves soon! I'm one of them lol had 200k views on my last channel but ever since I ate raw meat they immediately shadowbanned all shorts :/ Not to mention I'm permanently banned on Instagram and shadowbanned on tiktok lolol. replied to 5:14 on 3speak.tv

@edje: 12 hours in front of the screen: I've been there, and I still am I think. Next to office life, over time the additional hours spent change, sometimes looping. From spending tons of time on HIVE, to trying to make more money from my wages through trading, to learning new things (like AI: nope still no time to really code something, I need 48hrs days for that hahaha). My advice on going out is: Walk a large round while being in some office meeting, online ofcourse, ears in, video off. That is what I do often. Coding: uhm not sure wether this can be done while being out and about. Hearing more and more devs coding (using AI) only through phone. Seeing services in the making that uses a voice frontend for AI work (speak/listen), perhaps that could be something? Perhaps with some kind of AR glasses to be able to have a visual view when needed? Pay for Watching: Didn't see this around as well. Pretty cool idea. I do wonder how the system prevents abuse though. Lots and lots of experiments done with pay for listening (music, podcasts and whatnot) and most if not all failed. Why? Users artificially watching 24 hours a day, with a growing amount of accounts. And the payout is usually so little, it only makes sense as a bonus. With that I mean, the service itself needs to be compelling enough for the user to stick around (content, UX and all that). The rewards isn't sticky enough. However, when the rewards are large enough, maybe this helps something, therefor I do hope the Ads income will be substantial. Sorry to be the devil's advocate.

@steevc: I had an ad from you when I watched this :) I have been paid, but I am not sure I had any ads from anyone else so far. It looks like the Skip button is immediately available, but we may need to be able to disable ads for specific videos where we don't want interruptions. For Hive in general I have heard that ads may not bring in much due to the small audience, but maybe you can help to expand that.
@caparadiso: Congratulations, Tibbi, on the way you're handling the ads on 3Speak! 👏 Ads are a touchy subject on Hive, and you tackled it head on, with transparency and a clear goal: bringing more people in and rewarding them for their content and even just for watching. That's how you grow a platform without losing its soul. And that little blue ponytail deserves a mention of its own... it's the coolest piece of front end design on the whole platform! 😄💙 One more thing that made my day: I've never before been contacted on WhatsApp by a HIVE blockchain developer. Very cool! It says a lot about the kind of community (and team) we have here. Keep the "yolo mode" on, and keep the videos coming, we're all watching (ads included 😉). @sergiomendes: I do think this are awesome changes. I hope it will keep bringing people and people start consuming more content here as well. Have you thought about starting to create Facebook Page, X, Threads, tiktok, Youtube and start posting daily videos to start promoting the 3speak in the mainstream? Because honestly after all this year and all that we have seen the attempts of so many apps and UIs trying to get the users to the onboarding itself, it never really worked out. Maybe if you guys can have accounts in all the mainstream social media platforms, and start creating content, like simple stuff.
