    "Do The Evolution"

    Woo

    I'm ahead, I'm a man
I'm the first mammal to wear pants, yeah
I'm at peace with my lust
I can kill cause in God I trust, yeah
    It's evolution, baby

I'm at peace, I'm the man
Buying stocks on the day of the crash
On the loose, I'm a truck
All the rolling hills, I'll flatten 'em out, yeah
    It's herd behavior, uh huh
    It's evolution, baby

    Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, he's my clone
    Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
This land is mine, this land is free
I'll do what I want but irresponsibly
    It's evolution, baby

    I'm a thief, I'm a liar
There's my church, I sing in the choir:
    (Hallelujah, hallelujah)

    Admire me, admire my home
Admire my son, admire my clones
'Cause we know, appetite for a nightly feast
Those ignorant Indians got nothing on me
    Nothing, why? Because
    It's evolution, baby

I am ahead, I am advanced
I am the first mammal to make plans, yeah
I crawled the earth, but now I'm higher
2010, watch it go to fire
    It's evolution, baby
    It's evolution, baby

    Do the evolution
    Come on
    Come on, come on

    Hello Open Mic community!
This week the theme got me "spicy" (as we say, I guess not only in Argentina, when something gets good).
First of all this is the first time I upload a song sung with a track.
with a track. But it came super natural to me, because as soon as I read about what it was about
Open Mic this week I thought about this topic. And somehow
is going back to my origins, since Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands. Doing this was almost a flashback to my teenage self screaming with the album blaring in the background, what a great album Yield is!
About the song, there's not much to say because it's quite explicit in its message. And even more so when you listen and watch the video at the same time. Which, by the way, is a masterpiece. Maybe one of the best music videos ever made. It was produced by the cartoonist of Spawn.
Basically it is an excellent criticism to the Anthropocentrism that predominates in the "civilized" societies, and to the "idea of progress" or "evolution".
Rivers of ink have already been poured on this concept. The only thing I want to add is that most people believe that evolution is always something positive, and in reality it is simply a situational or contextual change. Nor does it mean that something becomes more complex, it can be the opposite as well and it would still be evolution.
Another thing is that where Darwin saw struggle and survival of the fittest, Kropotkin saw mutual support and cooperation. If you don't know who Pier Kropotkin was, it is because science is not neutral, and it is done in a political and social context, like everything else.
At that time the nascent capitalist society, saw in Natural Selection a biological explanation to free enterprise competition, the law of the strongest and so on. Better expressed in the term "Social Darwinism".
This vision is opposed to the one Kropotkin expounds in "Mutual Support" which is solidarity and cooperation. It goes without saying that the author was an anarchist.
The best thing is that these two theories complement each other in the explanation of the concept of Biological Evolution almost like a yin and yang.

Without more to add, so as not to beat around the bush...I greet you until the next time!
