Getting Industrial on my 60th Brixton Radio Show

Here's a highlight from my 60th Brixton Radio show, broadcast this Monday.

This section with sounds I will describe as 'industrial dance' seemed to go down particularly well.

My radio show is also broadcast on my Twitch channel - and there are normally lots of people from the Hive community, and especially players of @risingstargame hanging out in the Twitch channel and generally catching up.

I’m fresh from HiveFest too - having taken the bottom left case from my ‘modular wall’ with me to Amsterdam. I was pleased to find that my scheme of having that case with all my essential modules and the one above it an optional extension to it worked well and slotting things back together took only minutes. (Not the many hours it can sometimes take me to repatch/reconfigure it!)

Patch Notes

The key module used in this section is called Basimilus Iteritas Alter (BIA) from Noise Engineering. It is actually a digital (FM) module designed primarily for percussion and bass. But here I'm using it with heavy modulation over many of it's parameters to create much of the groove you can hear.

The good news is that this aspect was done within the core case, so I could save some of these patterns and at least replicate an approximation of this groove in a future live gig.

Out Today

Today my two tracks that made up Ethereal 2 (my recent vinyl release) both came out on streaming services, So everyone can now listen to them via:

The style is lofi/chill beats - and although my modular synth is used in these tracks they are primarily sequenced/produced using Ableton Live(on the computer). They also include piano played by myself and recorded from my trusty Nord Piano 2.

There were only between 30 and 35 vinyls made by the label, OAKHI records. I do have a portion of that supply to sell at gigs and for prizes so if you are interested in getting hold of one and likely to see me in person at some point, get in touch. I was already very happy to present the first prize of an Ethereal 2 vinyl to @tibfox - who one my contest at HiveFest!

Finally

I'm working on a number of new projects right now - I have a video coming soon based on footage from my Electronic in the tower gig. I am working on new modular sets to be previewed on my Brixton Radio show, and then gigged in London over the coming 2 months. And of course I am working on new music: another lofi/chill beat track for the next release on OAKHI Records, and 2 or 3 collaborations too!
