For this #TeleTuesday I have revisited my magazine archive again for Guitarist from June 2008. I had to search around to find the matching DVD with audio examples. This piece uses chord shapes with open strings. The demo was much quicker and smoother than I could manage, but I thought I would give it a go anyway. I selected a preset on my Zoom G3X with some phaser and chorus to make a richer sound.
They give REM as an example of this sort of technique and it does have a 'jangly' quality. Not my normal thing, but it is always good to try something different. I have played other songs that move a shape around the neck with open strings ringing out.
The guitar is my Benford custom Tele with Kinman pickups.
I really need to check out the other lessons on the DVD. I have a few others that I have not fully explored.
