Today I want to talk about the worst change in the history of the game. This change affects its decentralized philosophy. This change is serious because it opens the doors to a tutelary economy, which acts from centralization.

**I am talking about card rental. Since a week ago, you can no longer rent cards for one day. You have to rent them for two days or more.

The change itself does not make much sense. It is also not explained very well why. Maybe it is against bots, but it covers everyone, so it has an impact on all of us.

Anyway, it's something that's on the back burner. Even whether it's beneficial or not also takes a back seat, due to the severity of the type of change.

Splinterlands has always been a game that shows itself, as the most decentralized game out there. Even I have sold it as the best in its financial ecosystem, with the fewest flaws and the most robust. The proof of that is that it allows bots and multi-accounts. However, with this change it leaves many doubts.

The delicate thing here is that it interferes with the free market. This change violates the ownership of our NFTs. It limits it by eliminating an option we had before. It is a change that did not take into account the owners of cards, because it does not let them decide, for how long they want to offer them for rent.

Regardless if the change brings positive consequences, which would only be for some; the problem is that it opens a door to subtract other freedoms. Even if this continues and goes under the table, someday rentals could be eliminated altogether.

I saw some commenting, that as card owners they were happy, because they would have more profit, since they would be rented two days instead of one. This is a very poor analysis. If your customers have an option taken away from them that they used to have, you will most likely have fewer customers. You should not be happy that a "state" is interfering in your finances and business.

We are making a life in this crypto world, wanting to run away from third party intervention. We are believers in P2P business, but now Splinterlands tells us that it can step in to regulate the market. We don't want regulators.

Splinterlands' role should be to look after the game. Make whatever changes are necessary to the gameplay, not the marketplace.

Estamos haciendo vida en este mundo cripto, queriendo huir de la intervención de terceros. Somos creyentes de los negocios P2P, pero ahora Splinterlands nos dice que se puede meter a regular el mercado. No queremos reguladores.

La función de Splinterlands debe ser velar por el juego. Hacer los cambios que sean necesarios en la jugabilidad, no en el mercado.
