Tarot Card UnBoxing~Awakening In a Box

If you would have told me four years ago I would be making videos and posting them for the world to see, I would have laughed while telling you what a crazy idea this was.

Three years ago I made my first video. I was playing a game called Hearthstone. I recorded it and uploaded it to YouTube. No editing, no nothing. If you need a good night's sleep you might want to go watch it. I knew it was not the most exciting video to watch but a person has to start somewhere with what they have.

    My First Video

Watching someone live Stream a game for hours is one thing. There is an interaction that happens while watching someone live. Turning on a video to watch about a subject you like or to hear a person speak about something you find interesting is a very different kind of video to make.

A live video has you talking to fill the quiet and hopefully entertain anyone nice enough to stop by and watch. A video about one subject needs to give the viewer a lot of information in a fun informative way while keeping in mind most people will only watch five minutes of a video before they need to move on to other things.

Forty minutes of raw video footage

Knowing I can ramble on and on for hours in a video, once I get started, has its pros and cons. The cons are there is a lot of places where I have to stop and think about words. I get stuck on words that describe an item. I will also be in the middle of a sentence and just change topics midsentence. This works out okay if you are talking to someone in person or on voice but it doesn't make for good video dialog.

Each pause you take while talking in a video is a few seconds that someone could and will get bored. I make videos to make people smile or share something I like with others. I do not want people walking away after watching one of my videos thinking they just wasted ten minutes of their time.

To help with this issue the first-ever purchase I made with cryptocurrency was a video editing program. There were a few free editing programs out there. They were either very simple, left a watermark, or were too complicated for me to use. I finally settled on buying Wondershare Filmora and never regretted it.

I have come a long way in learning how to edit videos. I still have a long way to go too. Editing can make a forty-minute ramble that would bore most people to death into a ten-minute video that will hopefully make someone smile and enjoy what they just watched. This process can take me between one to six hours.

Most times It will take me watching the same video four or five times to 'cut' out everything I do not like, while hopefully leaving the video looking like it was shot in one smooth take.

Next, I will go through and add any screenshots as an overlay into the video. Well, first I have to find where I put the screenshots, then I can add them to the video or go back and take more screenshots because they are lost in the abyss. I have done both. 😹

From there I will add in any type and elements I think is needed into the video to make it more informative.

One of the last things I do is add in any transitions that I think will help make the video flow better.

Last is the part I hate the most. Coming up with a thumbnail and a title for the video that is not boring and will want to make people click on the video and watch it.

I have been known to change titles and thumbnails weeks after a post is already done and voted on just because I never liked how I made it the first time. 🙀

The outline above on how I edit my videos does not mean this is the best or only way to edit a video.

We are all different. We learn differently. We talk differently. We have our style of how we want things to look. I would not have it any other way. It is what makes each video a person makes unique.

Someday I could read some instructions too...

Help someone smile today. It can not hurt you.
