[Hive P v. S] Week 14 Progress: Tutorial

Introduction

Open source mashup of classic arcade games with Hive blockchain support. Read the bottom about section for more information.

Let me hold your hand

A quick video for the progress made last week. Did lots of small fixes and changes, but the main progress was to complete the tutorial section for the game. When a new user starts the game for the first time, a very short tutorial will guide the user on how to control the ship and the basic goal of the game. Details on all power ups and such are not part of the tutorial, have to read the manual or play the game and try them out to learn the best tactics to use.

The tutorial will catch failures and repeat steps until successful, except the last step where you'll always get a pat on the back with various messages depending on how good you did. It also uses different icons and texts depending on if you are using a mouse or touch screen to play.

Hive P v. S is a mashup of classic arcade games. You fly around collecting stars, each star collected spawn an entity that forms a tail that gets longer and longer. Avoid the tail for as long as possible until you get a power up that gives you a limited time to destroy the tail. If successful you'll get bonus points and new stars are spawned. Rinse and repeat.

When the final score is high enough, you'll get the opportunity to submit the score to the high score table. The high score table is saved on Hive and is viewable on Hive as well as in-game for all users.

Game will be released for browsers, as a PWA and as native builds for mobile and computer platforms.
