    ENGLISH

Greetings, community, after being away from the microphones for a while due to lack of health (One says “for health reasons”, but in reality it is for reasons of “lack of health” = return to this week 217 of Hive Open Mic, to meet the theme “Always Grateful” proposed by our recent Spotlight Artist @ashiru.

It is no secret to anyone that the difficult political-economic and social situation in my country (Venezuela) has given rise to an exodus or diaspora of large proportions, producing ruptures and separations in many families. It is difficult to find someone who, if they do not have a relative outside the country, surely one or more of their friends has left.

In my case I have a great-nephew in Bolivia (Far away) and a niece and a great-nephew in Chile – much further away. Two weeks ago a friend of my nephew arrived in Chile from Venezuela, my nephews gave him accommodation and advice to help him get a job. The night before last I went out with my nephew on the motorcycle and they were intercepted by criminals who, in order to take their motorcycle, shot them, leaving my nephew's friend dead and him with several fractured ribs and a punctured lung.

My nephew is currently in intensive care and my niece found it necessary to telephone the friend's family, inform them of his death and then carry out the relevant procedures so that they could – via video call – recognize the young man who was in the morgue. .

Everything has been very sad, horrible, and we are too far away... My nephew was very ill but the doctors now say that his life is not at risk, that if there are no complications, the recovery process will only continue. They are currently draining his lung to release the gases that entered him and the blood that is there, since in the end they decided not to operate.

He – who is conscious – says that he died and that he asked God to preserve his life and God brought him back to life. We know he is alive because of a

miracle and we thank God for it. In the song “La Montaña” by Roberto Carlos, which was the one I selected to participate this week, there is a part that says “…no matter how much I suffer, I thank you, Lord, even if I cry, I thank you, Lord, for understanding that “Everything teaches me the path that leads to You.”

What we read in the book of Job, what we read in our daily lives, when events that are too strong hit us, should only be episodes that bring us closer to Him and His infinite goodness, although many times we fail to understand why things happen. In Venezuela we have suffered many, those who left, those who stayed, those who returned, those who left again... but so much suffering cannot and should not cloud our gratitude towards our Creator.

I appreciate your prayers for strength and comfort for my nephew's friend's family and health for him.
