I love you
These words
I remember when they held weight for me
The excitement and anticipation of hearing the reciprocation in his voice
The desire to draw him close and whisper these words with urgency, earnestly
It never came

Fuck you
These words
A rush of sound from the lips I once kissed passionately
A hurricane force wind shoving us from the cliff of our inadequacy
A widening chasm formed recklessly
The pain of separating what was once inseparable, unimaginably sharp, cutting into my ribs as I struggle to breathe
Your hand tight around my throat
I’ve got you now bitch, there’s nowhere to run
Your knee in my solar plexus
The air escapes my lungs
I fought hard, but now, I’m done

Where has she gone, an apparition in the mist
Lost in your darkness
The game you have never won
I no longer play along
I no longer listen for your heart song
The beat of which just sounds
Wrong
Perhaps we held on for too long
On my own, I stand strong
Be gone
