Hi, dear friends and family at Hive Open Mic Community. Introducing me, my name is Samuel Stifen a guitarist, and my friend Frans as a Vocalist. We both are an acoustic pop band called The People People. It's unbelievable, the weekly event #openmic has entered number 145. Every day we see great and talented musicians here. This proves that the Hive Open Mic weekly event is getting ahead of the curve.
So, this week's theme is “Glory”. This theme was chosen by @sleemfit, a talented singer and guitarist in this community. I like his guitar playing and vocal sound. From this week's theme, the two of us performed a cover song entitled “Viva La Vida”, by Cold Play. The title of the song means Long Live Life. This song was written by Will Champion, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman & Chris Martin. Released on May 25, 2008, on the album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.
The title of this song is the same as the title of a painting by Frida Kahlo. If we penetrate the lyrics written in this song, then we know that this song tells about a king who has just been overthrown from his throne due to a mistake he made but still has a passion for life. From this song, we can learn that the twists and turns of life we live sometimes make us sad, sick, and frustrated. Even so, we must not give up and must be enthusiastic about living life. From all the mistakes we have ever made, we can take lessons from experience. And that life experience can make our deeds better in the future.
I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listened as the crowd would sing,
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you'd gone there was never
Never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world
It was a wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?
That's all I can tell you all. I hope you all like the presentation of the songs we sing today. Below, we also put a link to the song from their original version so you can also find out about the singer. Thank you and nice to meet you.
