Greetings, dear friends of Hive Open Mic! It is an honor to be in charge of choosing this week's theme, in this case I have chosen Heroism. I know that we are going to see beautiful presentations around this topic that has a lot to cut through.

Heroism is a virtue that implies courage and a certain sacrifice for others. When, despite our human condition and weaknesses, we are capable of doing great things that can save a person or situation, we become heroes. I believe that heroism and courage are more a matter of spiritual condition and mental fortitude than merely physical strength. There are people who pass through our lives and bring us their favor, just as sometimes it is our turn to play the role of heroes.

In this sense, today I bring you a song called Ordinary Day, by the Irish alternative rock singer Dolores O'Riordan, who is already on another earthly plane. The song is part of the album Are You Listening?, released by the artist as a solo in 2007.

This piece talks about how the arrival of a daughter into the world can become a miracle and an opportunity to adopt a new perspective on a life full of negativity and vices, making this new being the role of heroine to a person who really needed it and thus changing her life, turning it around 360 degrees. Dolores dedicates this song to her daughter; since she knew of her arrival she made the decision to leave the world of drugs and substances harmful to health, she knows that she had the responsibility and commitment to care for and educate this child and for that she had to be clean of all the bad habits that were affecting her life.

El heroísmo es una virtud que implica valor y un cierto sacrificio por los demás. Cuando a pesar de muestra condición humana y debilidades somos capaces de hacer grandes cosas que puedan salvar una persona o situación nos convertimos en héroes. Considero que el heroísmo y el arrojo pasan más por una condición espiritual y de fortaleza mental que por una fuerza meramente física. Hay personas que pasan por nuestras vidas y nos traen consigo su favor, así como a veces nos toca a nosotros hacer el papel de héroes.

En este sentido, el día de hoy les traigo una canción que lleva por nombre Ordinary Day, de la cantante irlandesa de rock alternativo Dolores O´Riordan, que ya se encuentra en otro plano terrenal. El tema forma parte de álbum Are You Listening?, lanzado por la artista como solista en el año 2007.

Esta pieza nos habla de cómo la llegada al mundo de una hija puede convertirse en un milagro y una oportunidad de adoptar una nueva perspectiva ante una vida llena de negatividad y vicios, haciendo este nuevo ser el papel de heroína hacia una persona que realmente lo necesitaba y así cambar su vida, dando un vuelco de 360 grados. Dolores le dedica esta canción a su hija; desde que supo de su llegada la hizo tomar la decisión de dejar el mundo de las drogas y las sustancias nocivas para la salud, ella sabe que tenía la responsabilidad y el compromiso de cuidar y educar a esa niña y para eso debía estar limpia de todos los malos hábitos que estaban afectando su vida.
