Me confieso

Confieso que no soy yo quien prepara el delicioso café que tomo por las mañanas. En realidad, sí sé prepararlo, pero el mejor café en casa lo hace mi madre. Tiene la consistencia perfecta y el sabor auténtico. Ella no tiene una gran receta, sino que lo hace a la manera tradicional, incluso con el colador.

No hay olor que me alegre más por las mañanas que el del café que prepara mi madre. Impregna toda la casa y llega a mi habitación como un tsunami de estímulos para mis sentidos. Sólo con inhalar su aroma estoy dispuesta a salir a comerme el mundo.

I confess

I confess that I am not the one who prepares the delicious coffee I drink in the morning. Actually, I do know how to make it, but the best coffee at home is made by my mother. It has the perfect consistency and authentic flavor. She doesn't have a great recipe, but she makes it the traditional way, even with the strainer.

There is no smell that cheers me up more in the morning than the smell of the coffee my mother makes. It permeates the whole house and reaches my room like a tsunami of stimulus for my senses. Just inhaling the aroma makes me ready to go out and eat the world.

El café es buen acompañante

Como recordatorio, me convertí en amante del café hace casi 5 años cuando decidí pasar más tiempo de calidad con mi padre debido a su enfermedad. Eran días muy intensos y preocupantes, pero con el café, las mañanas eran más llevaderas.

Mi madre siempre ha sido la que prepara el café. Cuando vienen visitas, le gusta ofrecérselo y nunca dejan de felicitarla por su sabor. Tal vez, como dicen, ella añade su ingrediente especial al café: el amor.

Ahora bien, entiendo que para que el café sea más sabroso hay que comprar un café bueno y de calidad, y de eso me encargo yo. Hemos probado varios y nos hemos decantado por una marca que no es tan cara, se llama Amanecer. Es un café arábigo cosechado en Venezuela.

Coffee is a good companion
As a reminder, I became a coffee lover almost 5 years ago when I decided to spend more quality time with my father due to his illness. Those were very intense and worrying days, but with coffee the mornings were more bearable.

My mother has always been the one who prepares the coffee. When visitors come, she likes to offer it to them and they never fail to compliment her on its taste. Perhaps, as they say, she adds her special ingredient to the coffee: love.

Now, I understand that for the coffee to be tastier you have to buy a good, quality coffee, and that's what I'm in charge of. We have tried several and we have opted for a brand that is not so expensive, called Amanecer. It is an Arabica coffee harvested in Venezuela.

El aroma que me despierta
Mi madre se levanta muy temprano por la mañana y, después de asearse y orar, se pone a hacer café. Ya es una costumbre para ella. Antes preparaba café para mi padre y para la familia, y ahora lo hace para mí y para ella misma.

Tengo tres cafeteras eléctricas, y las tengo a la venta porque a mi madre no le gusta hacer café en ellas. Ella hace el café en sus rudimentarios utensilios: un colador, una olla, una cuchara para remover y un termo para guardarlo y tomarlo caliente por la mañana.

Realmente no hay manera de que pueda superar a mi madre en la preparación de café, pero puedo asegurar que estoy siguiendo sus pasos.

The aroma that wakes me up
My mother wakes up very early in the morning, and after cleaning herself and saying her prayers, she starts making coffee. It is already a habit for her. She used to make coffee for my dad and for the family, and now she makes it for me and for herself.

I have three electric coffee makers, and I have them for sale because my mom doesn't like to make coffee in them. She makes coffee in her rudimentary utensils: a strainer, a pot, a spoon for stirring and a thermos to keep it in to drink it hot in the morning.

There's really no way I can beat my mom at making coffee, but I can assure you that I'm following in her footsteps.
