I liked holding your hand and taking a walk.
Our bodies were close, our minds linked in talk.
And we’d ponder our lives and mysteries shared.
Our banter was light, but inside we cared.
But sometimes as we walked down the street
our minds took a path quite of their own.
And so they truly traveled away from our feet,
a walk in a walk.
Then I’d climb on a ledge and hug you tight.
My soulmate were you in the fading light.
I can still hold your heart now that I’m alone,
like I once held your hand inside my own.

The album, You Were My Compass, was written by a woman in the deepest throes of grief and suffering, reeling from the unexpected dissolution of her marriage.
“Every day I spend in hope and in fear, ‘cuz everywhere I search for words to make you hear, that you will always be what love means to me.”
She does not give up. She writes love songs to express her pain, rage, and hope.
She sings him the songs, to save her love.
