Una visita a la Pulpería del Libro | A Visit to the Pulpería del libro

El fin de semana pasado fui a la Pulpería del Libro…

La Pulpería es para mí uno de esos lugares icónicos de esta ciudad Caracas hace muchos años solía visitarla con bastante frecuencia, esta es la primera vez en casi ya siete años que vuelvo… Para mí siempre ha sido un lugar mágico; el olor a madera y hojas viejas, toca discos y radios antiguas adornan el lugar.

Una de las cosas que siempre me ha llamado la atención es la minuciosa orden que hay entre sus instantes que a primera vista parecen ser solo vitrinas con cúmulos infinitos de texto, historias, puntos de vista y conocimiento de diferentes partes del mundo y del tiempo, pero están cuidadosamente ordenadas por género literario y dentro de ese orden sus autores están ordenados por orden alfabético.

Last weekend I went to the Pulpería del Libro...

La Pulpería is for me one of those iconic places of this city Caracas many years ago I used to visit it quite often, this is the first time in almost seven years that I go back... For me it has always been a magical place; the smell of wood and old leaves, touches records and old radios adorn the place.

One of the things that has always caught my attention is the meticulous order that exists among its instances that at first glance seem to be just showcases with infinite accumulations of text, stories, points of view and knowledge from different parts of the world and time, but they are carefully arranged by literary genre and within that order their authors are arranged in alphabetical order.

Entre sus pasillos puedes escuchar a las personas recitando pasajes de algunas novelas, murmurando lo mucho que han buscado tal o cual texto o susurrando poemas en voces bajas casi como silbidos que viajan por las estanterías.

No fue una visita planeada, simplemente ese fin de semana decidimos ir, @poesiaempirica iba con la intención de adquirir algún texto, yo iba con la intención de volver a estar en un lugar al que tenía tiempo sin ir y que formó parte importante en mi vida y en mi afán por la escritura.

Es reconfortante saber que el paso del tiempo no ha afectado demasiado a la pulpería, el negocio de la literatura no es el más rentable de la economía de este país… sin embargo ahí sigue aquella tienda tan singular, inamovible y aun presente. Espero que siga así por mucho más tiempo, sin más los dejo con un pequeño video resumen de aquella visita.

Among its aisles you can hear people reciting passages from some novels, murmuring how much they have been looking for this or that text or whispering poems in low voices almost like whistles that travel along the shelves.

It was not a planned visit, simply that weekend we decided to go, @poesiaempirica was going with the intention of acquiring some text, I was going with the intention of being again in a place I had not been to for a long time and that was an important part of my life and my eagerness for writing.

It is comforting to know that the passage of time has not affected the pulpería too much, the business of literature is not the most profitable in the economy of this country... however, that store is still there, so unique, immovable and still present. I hope it continues like that for much longer, without further ado I leave you with a short video summary of that visit.
