Why Is Footwork So Important In A Fight?

When we talk about martial arts, we talk about different strikes, parry, and blocks. We often overlook an important thing in a fight, that is, footwork. You can be very good at punching and kicking, but you will be able to hit your opponent without being good at footwork.

There is a distance between you and your opponent. To strike and hit your opponent, you have to move forward so that you can close the gap and make your move. You can use footwork as a defense. When your opponent is going to attack you, you can move out of the line of attack as a defense. You do not need to parry or block if you can move fast and get out of the attacking range.
