    Hello Everyone,

Lately I've been fine tuning the printer so that I can print moving parts in place.

This is not easy to achieve without mishaps because of so many different variables associated to 3D printing. It's not a simple hobby, and to print a moving gear as one print in place takes quite a bit of printer tweaking.

This is referred to as "slicing tolerance" in 3D printing. Tighter tolerance gives higher dimensional accuracy and looser tolerance is less dimensional accuracy. The goal is to get the highest accuracy possible.

Increasing and decreasing flowrate is the primary way we find the range needed, and from there it's a matter of fine tuning things like temperature, speed, wall line count, top/bottom count, velocity and more.

I can now print planetary gears that will freely spin as soon as I pull them off of the bed plate. It took me almost an entire year in 3D printing before I was able to achieve this with no issues occurring, so I am pretty proud of this achievement.

I even found the files on thingiverse.com to utilize planetary gears for a filament guide!

In this video we see the gears in use, while printing another planetary gear as a part of my tolerance testing, which is still a work in progress.

I love how I can upgrade the 3D printer by printing parts for the machine. What kind of machinery can produce its own upgrades?

Thanks for stopping by, what do you all think of this 3D printed gear?

Your time is a valuable commodity, and I always keep this in mind and do my best to respond to everyone. I appreciate all of the amazing engagement and support. Thank you!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day! ~~@print3dpro
