Vinyl Art Time Lapse

(Heads up: the last 30 seconds of the video I’m wearing a thong and tshirt. I don’t feel it necessary to mark it nsfw but did want to communicate I felt on the fence about it.)

I used adhesive vinyl to make this 76”x53” (1.9m x 1.3m) backdrop.
I created the image using Adobe illustrator and cut the vinyl on a vinyl plotter. Then I weed out the excess vinyl, tape it to transfer to art board and then piece by piece lay it. It’s very similar to putting a puzzle together.
I live streamed, while also filming each step of making this piece!

Interesting time line about the piece…. Had the concept of wanting to create a map out of vinyl for several years. In late February 2020 I created the design. Started work on it March 12, finished March 16. During that time, my state went into lockdown, schools closed & my job shut down. I remember when it was done looking at it and feeling completely surreal. The world was about to change and here it was on my wall telling me!

The shape behind the map represents the movement & flow of energy. It’s a flow process called the torus or toroidal energy dynamic.

I recently used the image of the Vortex Map in my new art nft series, with pieces on Rarible and the NFT Showroom.
