    Hi #openmic!
    Hi Hivers!

    Here @palimanali and UkEweWe!
(didn't meet us yet? Our introduction here)

In this week 38 with the theme Memory I'll like to present Pachamama, a folkloric Quechua cover song recorded with Ukewewe and continue communicating around the progress of our first music album (already recorded, now doing the mix) which we are creating collectively, inviting everybody to be part of it. Continue reading and listening, to see what all this is about. With your upvote or tip you are directly being part of the Album because its being done on Hives.

So, on our first advance of the mixing of "Seed Music" we introduced the song "PACHAMAMA".

    Pachamama: Mother Earth.
Well, this Quechua word is pretty much known around the world actually, and very used as a brand.

Being in Antigua Guatemala we passed by a Tea-shop named Pachamama. So we stopped to sing the song, and they kindly invited us for tea.
Now we are in Chacahua (Oaxaca-Mexico) and we came up to a restaurant: Pachamama. The same thing happened on the other side of the world. Pachamama everywhere. Pachamama is everything.

I find the story of this song and Ukewewe very romantic, it is pure folklore: An anonymus expresion of an ancient culture transmitted mouth to mouth, generation to generation, to find Ceci's ears years ago. She held on it firmly ever since, wrote it down by phonetics and started singing it on her panhuehuetl, understanding not much more than the word Pachamama. But feeling it very close and resonating strongly with it.

Years later I met Ceci, and listened her singing around a bonfire. Immediately I picked up the melody in my Ukulele. That was the beginnings of UkEweWe.

When we decided to record it, we felt it necesary to research the whole meaning of the lyrics. We found from a native Woman in Humahuaca (Jujuy-Argentina) it was a song sung in sowing season; seedtime. We were so happy to know this: It fit perfectly with the name of the album that we had decided before: Seed Music.

It seems that some of the phonetics got distorted, so there are words we cannot find in some Quechua vocablulary guides. We found no "oh" sounds only "uh". Here is what we did find and adapted it to make some sense, and we are no experts in this so its not a rigorous translation, just our adaptation of the lyrics:

    Pachamama Taki Kuna
Mother Earth I offer you my chant

    Shunku llakimanta yawar wakayana
my sorrow after so much blood and inequity

    Pachamama sumak Warmi
    Mother Earth great woman

    Jatun jucha uy chaylla muskuna
the reflect of my darkness, let us dream, just dream.

Now every time we sing it, (nearly every day!) we offer it to our audience with the intention to plant the seed of conciousness and respect for our mother Pachamama, and for ancient cultures and diversity.

Pachamama is meant to be the first song to be released of UkeWewes' "Seed Music" and it probably will be, with the help of you all!

Thanks, stay tuned for the next advance of our project!

    Love to all
    @palimanali
