Many of us think that a plant like it does not walk, does not speak, does not have any kind of complex behavior, it cannot be considered a living being like us! but do you know that plants share something with our species? the need to nourish itself in order to grow and perform all its physiological functions if a vegetable does not absorb nutrients, it basically dies in a few days, the same happens with us if we do not eat! I ask you if you eat badly what happens with your body? diseases appear, you do not grow well, among other effects! In this post we are going to see what happens to a plant when it does not get the necessary nutrients! we will be observing a leaf of an aquatic species!🤔😮🤯

When I try to find a definition of what a plant is, I feel that I am transported to school, and it is that this subject is very important to know so much that our primary and secondary studies are forced to learn everything that involves one of the living beings most important in the ecology of our planet! A plant is obviously a living being like us, although they do not have the same level of physiological and structural complexity, plants are the only ones to perform photosynthesis and they do not need to look for food since they produce it themselves! for a plant to complete its cycles requires macros and micro elements but they don't need to go out and look for it ... They get it from the environment that surrounds them🌾🌷☘!

This was a small experiment that I carried out in my personal laboratory, what I did was extract a leaf with good conditions of the species (Alternanthera reineckii), it is a freshwater plant widely used in aquariums due to its reddish coloration, but because it has This characteristic turns the species into a plant with a high consumption and demand! To be in good "health" the plant must be planted in a medium with many nutrients and CO2 injection, take 3 leaves of the plant and place them in normal water to see how the nutrient deficiency process was in the leaf!⛔✅💯1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣

This species of plant, like a common terrestrial plant, needs nutrients to be able to live in the environment where it grows! the nutrients a plant needs are light to be able to boost photosynthesis, but all plants need so-called macronutrients and micronutrients! one in greater quantity than the other! but the demands of the (Alternanthera) are even greater, these species of red plants need CO2 to be able to live and perform their vital functions! As you can see, this would be a leaf of a "healthy" plant in the area (adaxial) or the upper part of the leaf, a very beautiful bright red coloration is noted and under the part (abaxial) or the "lower" part of the leaf a less bright red and we can see shades of green!💖💖💗

    IMG_20211226_172120.jpg

Nutrients are called "macros" because the plant needs these elements in greater quantity to be able to live normally in water, we know in chemistry classes that organic compounds have elements such as "carbon", "oxygen" and "hydrogen" All this is needed by the plant but there are other elements that are essential for its growth process, such as phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium! all this is dissolved in the water and the plant can absorb it either through its "stomata" or through its roots! here we can see a leaf that has already consumed its reserves and begins to "die" slowly! the red begins to disappear and we see opaque areas!

The way in which micro and macronutrients are dissolved in water depend on several factors, for example CO2 is the result of the respiration of animals that live in water, for example a fish introduces water into its mouth and absorbs the molecules. of oxygen through the gills then the residue is expelled as CO2, for example ammonia, nitrogenous, and micronutrients, arrive as a result of decomposition, food, urine and excrement! This is how the leaf looks after the medium does not present macro and micro nutrients, and there is a very low level of CO2 dissolved in the water! the red begins to disappear and we see that the sheet loses its tissue!💥💫💔

Like every living being without adequate nutrition, the plant can suffer from deficiencies or reach the point as we see in this sheet of dying, since here the environment does not have nutrients to feed on, the CO2 has been absorbed by the stomata and there is no more dissolved In a few days the plant ends up dying, there are plants that are very resistant and inhabit environments with few nutrients and almost no level of CO2 in the water, but this particular species needs a nutritious ecosystem in macro and micro nutrients to grow healthily! In addition to light and CO2, as a terrestrial plant those of us who are experts in aquariums know that it is always essential to fertilize our plants so that their colors remain alive! and the liquid that fertilizes the plants is mixed with the water, nourishing many elements that the plant will absorb little by little!🤯💀

WHERE DOES THE PLANT "BREATHE"?🧠‍🔬/POR DONDE "RESPIRA" LA PLANTA🌾🌼

Here we can see the structure of a plant cell they are like "balls" that are swollen because they are hydrated with H2O, inside we see some small dots here they seem yellow that are the plastids are the ones that perform photosynthesis with them, sunlight is absorbed, then We see the stomata in the lower part of the leaf, the stomata are small organelles that the leaf has through which "cellular respiration" takes place. Dissolved CO2 enters, which then the plant expels O2!💨💨
