*MY MUSICAL CHILDREN AND I HAVE A SHORT VIDEO FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE AT THE END OF THIS WRITE-UP RELAX AND HAVE FUN ☺ *

I wish to begin this short insight with a similar and very familiar comparison. In my opinion music is like a letter. The content of a letter may never be discovered by someone who does not know how to read. This can be premised on certain factors: it is either the person does not understand the language in which the letter is written or he has not learnt how to read. Other reasons could be based on physical deformities such as visual impairment. However, when the letter is read by someone who knows how to read in the language of the letter, the man who cannot or does not read is able to understand what is read and he may relate appropriately with the content of the letter if he understands the language of the letter. For instance, when I was in primary school, my grand father when he was still alive called me on several occations to read certain letters sent by my uncles and other relatives for him. I read those letters for him but he understood the contents more than me and he did a rejoinder by making me his scribe. ☺ Just to let you know that I started writing letters right from my primary school days for my grand father. Even though I had some spelling errors, at least the letters were readable. 😅

In my opinion, this is how it is too with music. When songs are scored using either solfa or staf notes many musicians who do not know how to read sheet music may never relate with such songs unless they are played by someone who can sight read. Be that as it may, when such songs are played to their hearing, they may be able to replicate what is played almost immediately with their musical instruments or their voices, sometimes even better than the one who can sight play or sight read. This is because they understand the sound of music and are able to play by ear.

Which of the above categories do you belong? Can you read sheet music or you play by ear? Maybe you can do both. Kudos to you. 💪

Before now, I could only play by ear. All you needed to do for me was to sing or play a song and I would replicate it for you with any of the musical instruments I'm capable of playing. However, A few years ago, I started learning how to sight read and I was lucky to meet a 'God sent' all the way from Scotland who out of her own generosity volunteered to teach me how to play by sight reading. Through her tutilage I'm now able to play some sheet music with my Recorder/Flute and other musical instruments. I am really glad our parts crossed especially because I have multiplied all that she taught me in many people especially children who learn music from me. In other words, I'm now able to teach people not only how to play by ear but also how to read sheet music. I'm really glad and thankful to God and to Paulina my music mentres because many of my musical children can now 'sight play' as well as 'ear play'

I wish to ask people who can 'sight play' as well as 'ear play' a question: Which do you think is much easier? Sight playing or ear playing? kindly drop your reaction at the comments' section. 🙏

Reflecting on the topic of this entry, a lot of things came to my mind but I really do not want to bug you with so much words. However, if you do not know how to read music and you only play based on what you hear others play, I wish to encourage you to take a step forward and emback on a voyage of learning how to read music and I assure you that you will feel happier as a musician. Just imagine being able to play a song by reading through a paper thesame way you are able to read a letter and understand what is written. 🤔 🤔 🤔 Again, when you are able to sight play a music sheet, you may not need the sheet again after some time because the song will naturally stick to your brain.

Finally, I will love to conclude this entry by dropping a video of a song done by me and my musical children. They are able to play this song by ear as such, do not need the sheet music anymore. In this video, we will play a song titled: 'IN CHRIST ALONE' with our Flutes and Recorders as well as sing the solfa notes of the song instead of the lyrics. I hope you derive some meaning from this entry.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR RELATING WITH MY POST. ONE LOVE 🎶 🎹 🎵 🎻 🎤 🥁 NOTE THAT THIS ENTRY IS DEVOID OF PLEGIARISM.
