Su victoria marcó un episodio en la historia del hipismo de mundial al ser el menos favorito de la competencia, además de anotarse en la pequeña lista como el segundo venezolano en ganar esa competencia.
La humildad de Sonny León es de admirar, ya que antes de la competencia ya se sentía ganador por el simple hecho de participar.
