Injured Badger Hole Adventures - Episode 06 (Badger Pair Special)

In this special edition of the Injured Badger Hole Adventures, instead of going to the sett of the injured badger, I head over to the other set of underground tunnels where a pair of badgers lives.

There are several animal dwellings in the forest where I live which I monitor, but since I found out about the injured badger, I put other on backburner and spent the whole week tending to the injured badger. So far, unfortunately, my efforts have not paid off as the injured badger has not come out of his burrow and the reality that he may not have survived the injury is growing ever stronger.

So after taking a week off, I returned to the more remote sett to check if my trail camera is still there and if so, to replace the memory card in it in order to see how th ebadger pair has been during my weeklong absence.

The 8km long journey took me high up above a valley which was shrouded by mist and that treated me to spectacular views, although those do not show up equally well on camera. I then continued across a large field into the remote part of the forest. Once up above the fog, the sun shone on my whole journey so despite freezing temperatures, it was a pleasant trek.

Having found my trail camera at the sett, I swapped the memory card, talked on camera about the three different setts by European Badgers (Meles Meles) which I have monitored, and then returned home to look at the footage on the memory card.

I was delighted to see that the badger pair remains healthy and well, and are still active despite the drop in temperatures.

As a background music for the trail cam footage I used my own instrumental music which I composed and performed on the guitar. It was recorded live and this is the only recording that exists of it. There is no studio recording of the composition.
