In this video I introduce Ground Ivy (Glechoma Hederacea), also known as Creeping Charlie - a universal, edible plant from the Mint family with medicinal uses. I show what Ground Ivy looks like and describe the way to identify the plant.
I also show the common look-alikes which are likely to grow in the Spring when Ground Ivy blooms, and which like Ground Ivy, also produce flowers which are purple-blue. Those include Spotted Henbit (Lamium Maculatum), Common Henbit (Lamium Amplexicaule) and Wood Violet (Viola riviniana).
I talk about the plan to make cough syrup from Ground Ivy based on the simple recipe from a lady who made it this way and solved her years lasting throat inflammation problem. Because this video is about the identification of the plant and its uses, I do not go into detail on how to make the cough syrup. Even though it’s truly simple, should there be interest, I will follow up with a video on how to make it.
I hope the video was helpful and educational for you, but please bear in mind that I’m not an expert and may be wrong about anything I say.
