Como venezolano hablo con propiedad la decir que el ajedrez en nuestro país no es tan nombrado como otros deportes, béisbol, fútbol o basquetbol por ejemplo. Pero es ¿to no quiere decir que Venezuela no tenga personajes que hayan logrado alguna hazaña jugando al ajedrez. Hoy les presento una partida jugada por un venezolano les hablo del GM Eduardo Iturrizaga, el nativo del Estado Aragua jugó una partida online precisamente en Lichess ante nada más y nada menos el actual Campeón del Mundo Magnus Carlsen.

As a Venezuelan, I speak with propriety when I say that chess in our country is not as well known as other sports, baseball, soccer or basketball for example. But this does not mean that Venezuela does not have people who have achieved some feat playing chess. Today I present a game played by a Venezuelan, I am talking about GM Eduardo Iturrizaga, the native of Aragua State played an online game precisely in Lichess against none other than the current World Champion Magnus Carlsen.

La partida fue bala es decir a 1 minuto sin segundos de compensación.

El venezolano conducía las piezas blancas mientras el campeón mundial estaba a cargo de las negras planteando una defensa india del Rey, debo decir que no es tan habitual esta posición puedo decir que es bastante moderna aunque la idea de las negras es bastante fuerte al sacar su alfil de casillas negras por g7 amenazando por rayos x a la Torre blanca en a1.

The Venezuelan was leading the white pieces while the world champion was in charge of Black, playing a King's Indian defense, I must say that this position is not so usual, I can say that it is quite modern, although Black's idea is quite strong, taking out his black squared bishop by g7 threatening by x-rays the white Rook on a1.

Con dos segundos en su reloj Carlsen se rinde luego del jaque propinado por el venezolano y no tanto por el tiempo sino que realmente la coronación del peón blanco era inevitable y perdería por jaque mate tras unas pocas jugadas.

With two seconds left on his clock Carlsen gives up after the check by the Venezuelan and not so much because of time but because the crowning of the white pawn was inevitable and he would lose by checkmate after a few moves.
