The feeling of any chess player of any category or level is simply exciting when he gets a plan, variant or combination that projects him to victory, but this feeling takes a tremendous turn when the opponent counterattacks with a 100% effective plan, this scenario was experienced by the young Alexander Alekhine back in 1914 in Germany against the most dangerous player of the time, none other than David Janowski, see the following position

Alekhine* with Black has just played e4 interrupting the checkmate threat of the white queen and although that pawn is not defended by any black piece capturing it with the queen would be a serious mistake because the next variant is Dxe4 Bxf4+, if Rh1 then Dxh3# and the game is over and Black wins, now, if Dxe4 Bxf4+, again but if now Rg2 then that move disconnects the Rook from g1 defending the other Rook on g7 which would be captured in the next move and then Black would have a considerable advantage. This plan was perfect and Alekhine knew it, but, Janowski who was not just any amateur player finds the most beautiful possible counterattack plan for that position I invite you to watch the video where I show the variations and the way Alekhine ends up surrendering. Years later Alekhine would end up becoming world champion beating Capablanca.*
