Lesson that I learned from losing 12K LINK to scam which would have been worth $250K today

I thought I will never share this story with HIVE and LEO community. Because I'm writing my own book on HIVE blockchain and I gotta share my own story no matter how stupid I come across. It was October 2017, I returned to London from Honolulu,Hawaii. After spending 3 months tropical weather, I arrived in London via San Fransisco and Oslo, Norway. The whole reason that I came back to London was to get my US business visa and return back to Honolulu. Had my visa appointment scheduled on the 24th October. I was holding 55 different coins back then. As minimalist who lives with 21 items now, you probably how did I managed 55 coins. These are my early days with Crypto and for me it's all about learning, researching, experimenting and figuring out how I could actively involved in crypto to build a better society.

I don't exactly remember, In September I added $ADA and $LINK to my 55 coins portfolio and started to follow the founder of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson and Chainlink founder Sergey Nazarov because of my new addition. I remember, sitting in old my university library and pretty tired from travelling across the planet. Those days it was me, blockfolio, 4chan, youtube and reddit and twitter. I was always exploring the new ways to carry on my research and downloaded my Twitter app on my phone almost after a year. Started to follow all the crypto people that I could. Unfortunately I followed a fake account of Sergey Nazarov.

Show this Tweet and I didn't think too much just wanted to get my LINK airdrop. I told myself, I did participated many airdrops and I know what I'm doing. Clicked on the Tweet and it asked for my ETH address and It said that I'm eligible for 30% extra $LINK token airdrop for my 12k balance. My eyes on the free extra LINK that I'm gonna get and next thing it asked me to put my private key and I fucking did. Immediately sign into my metamask and realised that all my LINK was gone and checked the ethscan to see where my LINK tokens went... I got scammed and I only had myself to blame. Because it was only 5% of my portfolio back then so after few days later I got over it.

As Minimalist, I'm so used to letting go things. So lesson there is if you lose something and just move on and believe better things are coming in your way. Almost 4 years passed and I hardly ever thought about this incident.

You're gonna make mistakes in your crypto journey and don't make the same mistakes again.

Crypto bull market means there are many scammers. Be careful out there.

Don't give your Private key to anyone.

Don't do trading or make any decision when you're extremely tired because you can't think straight.

Ps. The person behind this scam return even some the LINK, It will hugely impact my life.
