Hive Open Mic week 68 | "Colores en el Viento" Pocahontas Theme - Cover

*Today I want to share with you my participation in this beautiful musical event that is the Hive Open Mic, in its week #68. For this week the theme chosen was "Ecological Conscience" and this beautiful song originally composed by Alan Menken and Stephen Laurence Schwartz for the Disney movie Pocahontas, speaks precisely about loving, appreciating and valuing the earth and every living being on it, so it is very appropriate for this edition of the open mic, and although I imagined that some (or some) other participants would also choose it because it is well known and has touched the hearts of many during our childhood, I still decided to keep practicing it to do my cover. I really wanted to sing this song, first because vocally it is an interesting challenge, and second because I simply wanted to feel like Pocahontas singing with the orchestra that recorded the music for Disney 😂.

The lyrics are so beautiful, the orchestral part is so magical and the voice of singer Susana Zabaleta, so sweet and powerful at the same time, that this whole part of the film made me and still makes me cry when I watch it. It is about noting how different ways of seeing the world affect how we interact with nature. We should change what are the priorities in our society in general in order to give our earth and the rest of living beings the care and respect they deserve for giving us all a place to live.
