The Turag River originates from the Bangshi River and fall into Buriganga River, basically this is the upper tributary of Buriganga. This river is navigable by boat round the year but, it is suffering from infilling and water pollution. Although there are several attempts against the infilling and pollution but these are not enough.
We went to watch the beautiful sunset from the boat and we have enjoyed the evening very much. Today I don't want to tell you about our tour but I wanted to make awareness about the river we were visiting.
This river could be very important for the capital of Dhaka after Buriganga River as it flows from the East Side of Dhaka City to West Side and after that from North to South where it meets the Buriganga. So basically, if we count the Balu River in the whole East of Dhaka City, the connection is all around the city (!) but people are unable to take the advantage from this river and making more and more flyover to pollute the city by themselves.
We know Dhaka is the most populated country and people looses hours after hours just waiting in the Traffic Jam where the river could be very best option in such case.
People from Gazipur to Dhaka could easily use high speed water bus to reach Dhaka within an hour or less while they are sometime wait that time in the traffic. Not only that but also, people from the North Dhaka could easily use the waterway to reach the south side easily and it would be very accessible and healthy.
Hopefully, government will take good care of this rout as the we already building the overground rail connection so, more and more people could able to use the waterway as well. It would definitely reduce the inner city traffic problems.
Thank You Everyone! The river is really awesome during rainy season and I hope the authority would take care to make is beautiful during dry season as well.
This is the high time to act on the waterway around the city. It would definitely help millions of people of Bangladesh besides by making the waterway attractive we would find thousands of tourist what would boost our economy.
