Jalladkhana was an abandoned pump house in Mirpur, Dhaka what was used as a killing spot during the 1971 war with Pakistan. During the war people being detained at several part of the city and most of the time their final destination was the well in this premises.
In 1998 government of Bangladesh took a step to identify the mass grave sites of Bangladesh and this one was one of the discoveries of that time. There were 70 skulls and 5392 bone fragments found this place including many belongings of different age groups.
There is a memorial and public exhibition in this site which was opened on 21 June 2007. This place is in the heart of the Capital of Bangladesh and easy to be found, just come to Mirpur section 10 and ask someone about Pumphouse or Jalladkhana Mass Killing Site or take a walk with map help. This is a place what could take you to the past and we hope mass killing would stop in this earth.
