The retro gameplay I bring this time has an additional function beyond just showing the gameplay of a game. In this one I raise the question of determining if the old games were really easy or if it is just a perception that we have of thinking that the old was less deep, important or difficult. What I share today is "Road Fighter", a racing game released by Konami in 1984 that we could find in Arcade, but that I played on my NES.

At first glance, it seems to be a fairly simple game, and well, the truth is that in theory it is just driving until you reach the finish line before you run out of fuel, but there are obstacles to overcome that can prevent you from running out of fuel before the end of the race.

El retro gameplay que traigo esta vez tiene una función adicional más allá de solo mostrar la jugabilidad de un juego. En éste planteo la interrogante de determinar si los juegos antiguos eran realmente fáciles o si es solo una percepción que tenemos de pensar que lo antiguo era menos profundo, importante o difícil. Lo que comparto hoy es “Road Fighter”, un juego de carreras lanzado por Konami en el año 1984 que podíamos encontrar en Arcade, pero que yo en lo particular jugaba en mi NES.

En primera instancia, parece ser un juego bastante simple, y bueno, la verdad si lo es ya que en teoría es solo conducir hasta llegar a la meta antes de que se te acabe el combustible, pero hay obstáculos que debemos superar y que pueden evitar que te quedes sin combustible antes de finalizar la carrera.

It turns out that the other vehicles are not exactly competitors but obstacles, some of which move unpredictably and can easily cause you to crash, crashes that of course cause you to lose time or fuel.

Entonces, tomando en cuenta lo anterior mencionado, pareciera ser un juego simple que en cuestión de poco tiempo puedes aprender y dominar, pero que esas pantallas que verás a continuación no te engañen, el juego tiene mucho más que eso y en el video del gameplay podrás comprobarlo.

Resulta que los demás vehículos no son precisamente competidores sino obstáculos, algunos se mueven de manera impredecible y pueden hacerte chocar con facilidad, choques que por supuesto te hacen perder tiempo o combustible.

There are several types of obstacles, the yellow cars would be the easiest to overcome because they do not move, but the blue and red ones move unpredictably and are precisely the ones that make you crash. In addition to the obstacles, the game offers a small advantage through colored cars that you can consume to get more fuel, these appear every so often and you'd better take them because they will be essential for you to reach the goal.

Hay varios tipos de obstáculos, los carros amarillos serían los más fáciles de superar ya que no se mueven, pero los azules y rojos se mueven de manera impredecible y son precisamente los que te hacen chocar. Adicionalmente a los obstáculos, el juego nos ofrece una pequeña ventaja a través de carros de colores que puedes consumir para obtener más combustible, éstos aparecen cada cierto tiempo y más vale que los tomes ya que serán fundamentales para que puedas alcanzar la meta.

In particular I think this is not an easy game, of course with some practice you can do well (not like me this time), but the difficulty level increases considerably with the passing of the stages, also, the fact that you only have one life is quite rhetorical.

En lo particular creo que éste no es un juego fácil, claro está que con cierta práctica te puede ir bien (no como a mí en ésta ocasión), pero el nivel de dificultad aumenta considerablemente con el pasar de los stages, además, el hecho de que solo tengas una vida es bastante retórico.
