    About :

If you have a specific activity which you enjoy and like to do frequently, either professionally or amateur, then you may remember when was the first time you did it, I think it is always nice to remember that moment. Normally you see me on this platform playing the guitar, I'm really an apprentice or amateur, personally I think I'm not good at playing it, and that's because I didn't study music, so obviously you can't expect much from me.

Now, what I really want to tell you is my first approach to the guitar, but it was not precisely to this one, in fact it was the bass the first instrument that I manipulated. At home it was always my sister who was good at music, her fundamentals are certainly more academic than mine, she is a great multi-instrumentalist, she plays bass, guitar, drums, congas, Venezuelan cuatro, some keyboard and maybe I'm missing something. I always saw her making music but I had no special interest in learning, I just liked to listen to her and enjoy it.

The first years of the 2000's were spectacular for music in general, many bands found success and many hits were heard on the radio, MTV, etc; the song that I show you this time is from those times, in 2003 the band The White Stripes sounded non-stop everywhere with the song "Seven Nation Army", this song has a very particular melody in the bass that characterizes it and it was precisely what caught my attention, that rhythm I could not get it out of my head to the point that I took my sister's bass and without any knowledge I tried to play it, obviously with her guidance, alone I was never going to be able to do it. The song is very easy to play because the chords are very simple on the bass, but those thick strings to which I was not used to made my life impossible and cost me a lot, they made my fingers numb and indeed the first attempts were unsuccessful.

After days of trying and trying, I could play the rhythmic base of the bass, for me it was a milestone since I knew absolutely nothing about music, of course, this did not mean that I was already a musician, in fact it was the only thing I could and knew how to play, but that was certainly the beginning of my wanderings with the bass and the guitar, I took interest and in a perhaps not very didactic way I tried to learn other songs, as you can see the music theory was always nonexistent but as time went by my mind began to assimilate certain logics that allowed me to advance to the point where I am today.

So I remember what was the first song I learned to play, those are my memories of the beginning. In a couple of previous publications that I have made in this community I have tried to capture a format in which I perform alternative versions of songs that I consider very good and this is no exception. Once again I pay tribute to those artists who gave us songs that we will remember all our lives; as in the previous ones, my humble guitar will be the protagonist of each instrumental line, I hope that this adaptation will be to everyone's liking.

It is important to mention that I added an effect to each recorded line with the audio editor according to its function. Below I will leave the lyrics of the song so you can have an idea of what it is talking about:

I'm going to fight them off
A seven nation army couldn't hold me back
    They're gonna rip it off
Taking their time right behind my back
And I'm talking to myself at night
    Because I can't forget
Back and forth through my mind
    Behind a cigarette

And the message coming from my eyes
    Says: Leave it alone

Don't want to hear about it
Every single one's got a story to tell
    Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell
And if I catch it coming back my way
I'm gonna serve it to you
And that ain't what you want to hear
    But that's what I'll do

And the feeling coming from my bones
    Says: Find a home

    I'm going to Wichita
    Far from this opera forevermore
    I'm gonna work the straw
Make the sweat drip out of every pore
And I'm bleeding, and I'm bleeding
And I'm bleeding right before my Lord
All the words are gonna bleed from me
And I will think no more

And the stains coming from my blood
    Tell me: Go back home

    Van a arrancarlo

    Me voy a Wichita
Y estoy sangrando, y estoy sangrando

    Díganme: Vuelve a casa

Here you can listen to the original song to get an idea of what it sounds like.
