A big greeting to all this incredible community of QSounds, we are very happy to be here and we want to bring you a mythical song that at the time was performed and popularized by the Ecuadorian singer and musician Julio Jaramillo, also called "El Ruiseñor de America" (The Nightingale of America), This song is well known in Latin America and Spain and is called "Ódiame" (Hate me), but do not be confused, we do not come to bring you hate or to unsettle you with lyrics full of resentment, on the contrary, this song, despite its name, expresses feelings that have their origin in love.

Un gran saludo a toda esta increíble comunidad de QSounds, estamos muy contentos de estar aquí y queremos traerles una mítica canción que en su momento fue interpretada y popularizada por el cantante y musico ecuatoriano Julio Jaramillo, llamado también "El Ruiseñor de América", este tema es bien conocido en Latinoamérica y España y lleva por nombre "Ódiame", pero no se confundan, no venimos a traerles odio ni a descolocarlos con una letra llena de resentimiento, todo lo contrario, esta canción a pesar de su nombre lo que expresa son sentimientos que tienen su origen en el amor.

An interesting aspect of this song is that it has as its source a poem that was written more than 100 years ago by the Peruvian poet Federico Barreto, it is called "El último ruego", it was written in 1920 and it goes like this:

Hate me for mercy, I beg you.....
Hate me without measure or clemency!
Hatred is better than indifference.
Resentment hurts less than oblivion.

I will be, if you hate me, convinced,
that once again your existence was mine.

Un aspecto interesante de este tema, es que tiene como fuente un poema que fue escrito hace mas de 100 años por el poeta peruano Federico Barreto, lleva por nombre “El último ruego”, fue escrito en el año 1920 y dice así:

Ódiame por piedad, yo te lo pido…
¡Ódiame sin medida ni clemencia!
Más vale el odio que la indiferencia.
El rencor hiere menos que el olvido.

Yo quedaré, si me odias, convencido,
de que otra vez fue mía tu existencia.
Más vale el odio a la indiferencia.
¡Nadie aborrece sin haber querido!

As we can see, there are songs that are more than just songs and this is an example of that, it is interesting how a poem that perhaps could even have been lost in time, ends up becoming a total success years later to be taken to a musical theme, so in 1965, the song "Ódiame" became popular.

We, in particular, also wanted to bring you this beautiful song because of the nostalgia it generates in us, since our parents used to listen to it very often in our childhood.

Como podemos ver, hay canciones que son más que solo canciones y este es un ejemplo de ello, es interesante como un poema que quizá se pudo incluso haber perdido en el tiempo, termina convirtiéndose en un total éxito años después al ser llevada a un tema musical, es así que en el año 1965, se populariza la canción "Ódiame".

Nosotros en lo particular, quisimos también traerles esta bonita canción por la nostalgia que nos genera, siendo que nuestros padres solían escucharla con mucha frecuencia en nuestra infancia.

As we could observe in the lyrics, the prevailing premise is the fact that you cannot really hate someone without having feelings of love or affection, this being the author's refuge in the face of a painful breakup or separation. Certainly if we think about it carefully, there is a lot of truth in what this song expresses, perhaps when we believe that we hate someone without importance it ends up being nothing more than dislike or loathing, but not a real hatred.

Como pudimos observar en la letra, la premisa que prevalece es el hecho de que no puedes realmente odiar a alguien sin tener sentimientos amorosos o de querencia, siendo este el refugio del autor ante una dolorosa ruptura o separación. Ciertamente si lo pensamos con detenimiento, hay mucha verdad en lo que expresa esta canción, quizá cuando creemos que odiamos a alguien sin importancia termina siendo no mas que desagrado o aborrecimiento, mas no un odio real.
