    About :

One of the wonderful things about music is that it is moldable, adaptable, it is infinite as we all know and that gives us endless opportunities to make adaptations (obviously giving credits to the author), so that a song can be transformed in tempo, structure, instruments, other aspects that you want to consider, resulting in a variation to suit the editor.

In this opportunity, it occurred to me to take a song that as a Rock fan I have been listening to with great pleasure for many years and that I have always had special interest in its lyrics, it is "Fear of the dark" by the British Heavy Metal band Iron Maiden, we can listen to this song in the album of the same name that was released in 1992. The composer of this song is the band's bassist Steve Harris.

As most of you know, rock in general uses drums, bass, guitar, maybe keyboard and of course vocals, however, for this occasion I use only my humble acoustic guitar to dismember what I think is the essence of the song and the most representative riffs or melodies, taking into account of course that is what I feel.

I focused on recording two guitar lines, one for the rhythm guitar or base, and the second one for the plucks or melodies, I adjusted the tempos in my mind since I didn't use metronome but I think it was correct in that sense, if not please let me know. I must also say that I applied a couple of very simple effects with my audio editor to give it a little more life.

Now, regarding the lyrics of the song, I think in many of its lines we can feel identified, or at least it is my case, because if there is something that humans fear almost by default since we have use of reason is precisely the darkness, for some reason it gets into our minds that darkness means danger, it can generate paranoia and fear that something stalks us from the shadows, even more when we are alone or maybe when we see a horror movie, by the way, the latter is certainly a great culprit of our fears of loneliness or darkness. Anyway, I won't go on any longer so as not to bore you with so much text and in that sense I invite you to watch the video I made for all of you.

Although in this publication it is the guitar that sings, I will leave you the lyrics so you can appreciate what it is about:

I am a man who walks alone
And when I'm walking a dark road
At night, or strolling through the park
When the light begins to change
I sometimes feel a little strange
A little anxious when it's dark

    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have a constant fear that something's always near
    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there

Have you run your fingers down the wall
And have you felt your neck skin crawl
When you're searching for the light?
Sometimes when you're scared to take a look
At the corner of the room
You've sensed that something's watching you

    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's always near
    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there

Have you ever been alone at night
    Thought you heard footsteps behind
And turned around and no-one's there?
And as you quicken up your pace
You find it hard to look again
Because you're sure there's someone there

    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's always near
    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there

    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark

Watching horror films the night before
    Debating witches and folklore
The unknown troubles on your mind
Maybe your mind is playing tricks
You sense, and suddenly eyes fix
    On dancing shadows from behind

    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's always near
    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there

    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's always near
    Fear of the dark
    Fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there

When I'm walking a dark road
I am a man who walks alone

Has sentido que algo te observa

    Te cuesta volver a mirar

Here you can watch a live performance by the band to get an idea of what the song originally sounds like. Thanks for making it this far.
