Yesterday, May 18, I had the opportunity to attend the 11th edition of Akiba Fest, an event designed to show the most outstanding of the world of manga and anime in this region. The Akiba Fest took place at the Centro Comercial Los Próceres in the city of Maracay, where I currently live. It was a quite sunny and hot day, but that did not prevent a large number of people to attend faithfully to have fun and to share common tastes. The event was outdoors and that allowed the breeze to flow freely, something that those of us who were there were very grateful for.
The good music, mainly conformed by the most representative openings and endings of the anime, provided a great atmosphere, but there was also K-Pop and of course those who are dedicated to dance this musical genre took the opportunity to show their talents. The main attractions were cosplay, contests and the special participation of Juan Guzman who is a Venezuelan voice actor who gives life to the voice of Rick from “Rick and Morty” for the Latin Spanish translation, among others.
Now, to show you the best of each space and attraction of the event, I will start with the sale of merchandise, an activity that is usually present in these events and that had a wide variety of t-shirts, stuffed animals, collectibles, toys, manga, pop material, among other very interesting things that attracted the attention of the attendees who were quite excited to buy. I must say that in this aspect there was plenty of merch for all tastes.
One of the main attractions was the participation of Juan Guzman, who is famous for being the Latin Spanish dubbing actor of Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty), Patchy the Pirate (SpongeBob SquarePants), Alex Louis Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), Jack (Samurai Jack), among other characters that can be found in his professional profile. His participation consisted of a show in which he animated the audience with his particular voice and other activities with which he connected quite well with the public. On the other hand, he was ready to sign autographs with his most loyal fans.
Now, from my point of view the main attraction was the attendance of cosplayers. There were many more than I expected and of very good quality, in addition, they were very willing to take pictures with the attendees who approached very often, but with much kindness they accepted the postcard. Next you will see a wide gallery of photos of which I must say that I don't know the totality of characters, maybe the most popular were the most recognized by me, but maybe you can find your favorite characters.
As I already mentioned, the event was held outdoors under a blazing sun, but that didn't stop the attendees from enjoying the attractions and hanging out with their companions who looked very animated and happy to be there. In the following pictures you can see the different stands where merchandise, food, among other things were sold; you can also see the main stage where the cosplay parade took place.
So, it was a pleasure to share with this beloved community the highlights of the Akiba Fest which was held in my hometown. These events are not very frequent, so I did not hesitate to attend and take advantage of the experience. Hugs to all!
