Recording a dance piece/Registrando una obra de danza [ENG/ESP]

Greetings to the friends of the dance and audiovisual communities, I hope you are very well, today I come to bring you a work that I am doing together with the director Ronny Mendez and the group of interpreters from the University National Experimental Arts.

Saludos a los amigos de las comunidades de danza y audiovisual, espero que estén muy bien, hoy les vengo a traer una trabajo que estoy haciendo en conjunto al realizador Ronny Mendez y el grupo de intérpretes de la Universidad
Nacional Experimental de las Artes.

A short time ago I went to see some works at the university and I had a drink with the teacher Ronny and he told me that he would like me to attend one of his rehearsals so that I could make an audiovisual record of the rehearsal to see what product can be generated with that material, I had not worked with the teacher for a long time so I decided to accept the invitation.

Hace poco tiempo fui a ver unas obras de la universidad y me tomé con el maestro Ronny y me comento que le gustaría que asistiera a uno de sus ensayos para que hiciera un registro audiovisual del ensayo para ver que producto se puede generar con ese material, yo tenía mucho tiempo sin trabajar con el maestro así que decidí aceptar la invitación.

The following weeks I received a call from the teacher asking me if I could attend on Wednesday of this week, I confirmed and without thinking I attended the guideline.

Semanas siguientes recibí la llamada del maestro preguntándome si podía asistir el día miércoles de esta semana, confirme y sin pensarlo asistí a la pauta.

The first thing I did when I arrived at the guideline was to enter the stage, and start taking shots while they were rehearsing, I did this more than anything to generate confidence in the bodies of the performers and that they can move without fear of the camera or the cameraman.

Lo primero que hice al llegar a la pauta fue adentrarme al escenario, y empezar hacer tomas mientras ellos estaban ensayando, esto lo realice más que todo para generar confianza en los cuerpos de los intérpretes y que estos puedan moverse sin temor alguno a la cámara o el camarógrafo.

Later, they made a tour of the entire work so that I could see it, meanwhile the teacher was by my side telling me all the details of the work so that I could understand.

Posteriormente, hicieron un recorrido por toda la obra para que yo la viera, mientras tanto el maestro estaba al lado mío comentándome todos los detalles de la obra para que yo pudiera entender.

Unlike doing dance for the public and dance for a camera, the viewer's vision is totally different, especially because in audiovisuals the vision moves to describe what is happening to the viewer and that is where the shots of camera and its camera movements, this can make the speech can be modified, until it is a little shorter, and that is why I am here to know what moments to choose to record.

A diferencia de hacer danza para el público y danza para una cámara es que la visión del espectador es totalmente diferente, sobre todo porque en el audiovisual la visión se mueve para describir lo que está sucediendo al espectador y es ah donde se trabaja los planos de cámara y sus movimientos de cámara, esto puede hacer que el discurso se pueda modificar, hasta hacerlo un poco más corto, y es para eso que estoy yo aquí para saber que momentos elegir para grabar.

One of the things I asked the teacher while he was recording, the performers were showing the montage, was the theme of the play, what the play was about, that was very important for me to decide which parts to choose, he told me that the play was called no return And what did it have to do with that reunion with the spaces after a quarantine and how lonely we came to feel or the abandonment that those people who left managed to experience, a very Venezuelan social issue which I understand perfectly, since it also touched me live those experiences.

Una de las cosas que le pregunte al maestro mientras grababa los intérpretes pasaban el montaje era el tema de la obra, de que trataba la obra, eso era muy importante para yo decidir que partes elegir, él me comento que la obra se llamaba sin retorno y que tenía que ver con ese reencuentro con los espacios después de una cuarentena y lo solo que nos llegamos a sentir o el abandono que logramos vivir esas personas que se fueron, un tema social muy venezolano el cual comprendo perfectamente, ya que también me toco vivir esas experiencias.

I like Ronny's works because he always talks about his processes, his struggles as a human being and his fears as a man, my colleague @crily.love asked me what the purpose of art is and I answered that it was to know oneself and communicate it always seeking to understand what process of life we ​​are in and combine that with the artistic technique that you master to be able to express it, and perhaps that can help overcome that process or understand a little the definition of living in a specific culture.

Me gusta la obras de Ronny porque él siempre habla de sus procesos, sus luchas como ser humano y sus temores como hombre, mi compañera @crily.love me preguntaba cuál es el fin del arte y yo le contestaba que era conocerse uno mismo y comunicarlo buscando siempre de entender en que proceso de la vida estamos y combinar eso con la técnica artística que domines para poder expresarlo, y tal vez eso pueda ayudar a superar ese proceso o entender un poco la definición de vivir en una cultura en específico.
