New week of Open Hive Mic. It is week number 30 and the topic is the truth.
We are surrounded by lies and it is very difficult to see through them sometimes. If we are asleep and lulled into our comfort zone and we don't care to see the truth, we will stay that way. But if you care about the truth, and if you seek it, new paths will slowly open up. You will learn to recognize the truth and to say it out loud. It is important to be light in the dark, to be yeast in bread ... To tell the truth even though your voice is shaking. It was the mission of every visionary, and prophet.
Although I am neither a prophet nor a visionary, I would like to share with you a perhaps not so well-known truth from the world of music.
From the world of composers. More precisely, the truth from the Mendelssohn family. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (a German composer 1809-1847) was a brother of Fanny Mendelssohn (1805-1847). They both received a good education, were both musically gifted, but at the time, women were destined to marry and be housewives, not to be composers. The brotherly love between Fanny and Felix was strong, so when she started to compose, those works were released under the name of Felix Mendelssohn.
The truth is that women also knew how to compose ... but it wasn't acceptable at first, so they had to fake the name of the real composer. Fortunately, times have changed.
Felix died on tomorrow’s date ( November 4th), so I chose one of his compositions, though who knows, it may be the sister’s composition.
The name of this beautiful piece is Venetian Boat Song, op. 30, no 6 and it is an original solo piano work composed by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.
May we all be the messengers of the truth.
