Chopin, the precious gem of piano music from romanticism, is favorite among pianists of all ages. When my teenage students ask to learn "something by Chopin" I usually start with this waltz. The structure is easy, a simple but melancholic melody in the right hand with accompaniment with the main chords from A minor in the left hand. However, there are some jumps between the bass note and the chords that can be challenging for some students.
This waltz was not published during the life of Frederic Chopin. It is though that is composed between 1847 and 1849 the first time was published in 1955 as an unedited edition.
