My locality has been enjoying heavy downpours for two days. A big sigh of relief from sticky weather.
The temp has gone down, but the humidity level is still high. But at least some concessions amidst heavy rains.
As I have said earlier, my home has a huge backyard and a small pond. And that makes it a whole ecosystem that hosts many birds, reptiles, snakes, and other biotic components.
Last time, I published the video of the giant Rat snake today I will introduce you to a small sand boa, who was an unsolicited visitor to our house. He might have lost the way due to heavy rains and an inundated quadrangle.
My mom spotted this cute creature and then called my father, and my father said that it was non-venomous, he is quite familiar with this type of snake and has good experience in catching them swiftly.
The length of this snake was hardly 25-17 inches. We have a huge stockpile of broken bricks. And as learned from the internet sand boas usually seek shelter in stockpiles of bricks and laterite soil.
Name- Common Sand Boa (Eryx conicus)
It is generally found in low-lying areas of the Indian Sub-continent. It is already categorized as Near-threatened in the IUCN Red List.
Whether venomous or non-venomous we try our best not to kill them and rescue them and release them to a safe location, they are part of the biodiversity, and hence should be preserved.
I have attached the video, you can see how small and cute this creature is.
That's all. Thank you.
