I think at times it can be challenging to stay motivated and committed to training. Running doesn't just take a considerable amount of physical health such as muscle development and lung capacity. It has an entirely different impact on one's mind.
It can be hard to stay focused and committed especially if you're setting out to achieve 8kms (10,000 steps)
It helps to have a training partner and making it fun. This reduces the impacts of it being a chore and more of a fun thing you do each day.
I'll often take my dog our for a run each night and she loves it. Unfortunately she's not as fit as me and after a few kilometres starts to tire so I have to slow down or take breaks.
But a run with my running partner helps me stay focused. Each night at roughly the same time. Bella will head to the door, if she can locate her collar she will be carrying it or bringing it to me. She motivates me and keeps accountable to my nightly run.
My advice to anyone to help them break through is make running or walking fun by getting a buddy.
