El charango

El charango es un instrumento latinoamericano, presente en Bolivia, Perú, Argentina y Chile. Inicialmente fue un instrumento de poblaciones campesinas, que imitando la vihuela o la mandolina auto-construían su instrumento de cuerdas, utilizando un caparazón de armadillo para la caja. En un principio habían miles de afinaciones diferentes de charangos, porque cada intérprete lo encordaba y afinaba a su gusto, pero en las últimas décadas se popularizó el llamado "temple natural", que al convertirse casi en un estándar permitió una mayor expansión del instrumento y una mejora significativa en su estudio y la transmisión de sus canciones.

La canción

Huayno-t

El nombre de la canción juega con la palabra Huayno, que es la forma de llamar a un ritmo de música andina popularizado en los años 60 y 70 en Argentina con el nombre de "Carnavalito", y la frase en inglés "why not", que singnifica "porqué no". El título de la canción parece decirnos entonces algo que podríamos parafrasear como "porqué no fusionar el huayno con el blues", porque, básicamente, "Huayno-t" es una fusión de huayno con aires de blues. Su compositor fue Jorge Cumbo

The charango

The charango is a Latin American instrument, present in Bolivia, Peru, Argentina and Chile. Initially it was an instrument of peasant populations, who imitate the vihuela or mandolin self-building their stringed instrument, using an armadillo shell for the box. At first there were thousands of different tunings of charangos, because each performer strung and tuning it to their liking, but in recent decades the so-called "temple natural" became popular, which by becoming almost a standard allowed a greater expansion of the instrument and a significant improvement in its study and the transmission of its songs.

The song

Huayno-t

The name of the song plays with the word "huayno", which is the way to call a rhythm of Andean music popularized in the 60s and 70s in Argentina with the name of "carnavalito", and the English phrase "why not". The title of the song seems to tell us then something that we could paraphrase as "why not merge the huayno with the blues", because, basically, "Huayno-t" is a fusion of huayno with blues airs. Its composer was Jorge Cumbo
