Nacido el 10 de febrero de 1903, Matthias Sindelar es el más grande futbolista en la historia de Austria. Con tan solo 18 años Sindelar llevó a su selección a ser uno de los equipos con mejor juego en Europa. Tanto fue así el exito de esta selección que en el mundial de Italia 1934 consiguieron el 4to lugar del torneo, siendo su mejor participación historica en la competición.

Sindelar era un jugador único, tenía una tecnica y una destreza muy superior a la del resto. Lastimosamente su carrera futbolística y su vida se vieron truncadas por los conflictos bélicos de la época. Matthias, criado en el seno de una familia judía fue constantemente acosado y perseguido por el regimen Nazi después de la anexión de Austria como parte de Alemania en el año 1938.

Born on February 10, 1903, Matthias Sindelar is the greatest footballer in the history of Austria. At only 18 years of age, Sindelar led his national team to become one of the best playing teams in Europe. Such was the success of this national team that in the 1934 World Cup in Italy they got the 4th place in the tournament, being their best historical participation in the competition.

Sindelar was a unique player, he had a technique and skill far superior to the rest. Unfortunately, his soccer career and his life were cut short by the war conflicts of the time. Matthias, raised in a Jewish family, was constantly harassed and persecuted by the Nazi regime after the annexation of Austria as part of Germany in 1938.
