    Greetings Hive Food community!

Today I come to share something different, it's a video that I recorded with my family tasting traditional, and you could say "street" Brazilian food.

It is a delicacy called "Acarajé", a typical preparation of the city of Salvador in the state of Bahia, Brazil. It consists of a dough of Feijão (beans), which is ground, seasoned, beaten and then fried in Dende Oil, characteristic for having a strong flavor and orange color, very similar to palm oil.

Acarajé is served with other complements, such as dried shrimp, salad, Caruru, a kind of cream made with quiabos or okra, and other traditional ingredients. There is also another preparation called vatapá which is based on a mixture of bread, peanuts, dried shrimp, coconut milk, all this is blended and served in the form of a consistent cream. Each of these preparations are very well seasoned with spices and without fail also carry more Dende oil. This dish as a whole is an explosion of flavors and sensations, which are really worth trying.

Preparing Acarajé is an art that nowadays is mostly done by the elderly Bahian women who learned from their mothers and grandmothers to prepare this typical food, and that normally to taste it we must go to those food stalls "de Rua" that is to say, in the street.

And we are fortunate to have a friend in front of our house who sells Acarajé, and she does it very well, with all the necessary care, but also has affection for us, because seeing foreigners enjoying their typical food, they feel flattered and happy to show their culture. It is already a habit for us to buy a portion of Acarajé on the weekends and enjoy it at home, and this time we decided that it is time to make a video showing how this typical food is and why we like it so much.

So I invite you to watch the video, I hope you like it, and if you ever visit this city, Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, don't hesitate to try an Acarajé, I promise you won't regret it, (just be careful with the pepper).

    Happy week to all.
