Hello, dear Open Mic family! It's a pleasure to be back in this very special corner where music and expression intertwine in a magical way. This week, thank you we embark on a sonic journey in which we explore the theme of “Rumors”.

Rumors are often based on hope, distortion or exaggeration of small facts. In relationships, sometimes these rumors are fueled by the idea that something might change, that that love that seemed lost can still be revived. In a way, a rumor is like an impossible wish: an alternative version of reality that feeds the heart, even if it is false. That's why today I share with you the song “Deseos de Cosas Imposibles” by the Spanish pop-rock band La Oreja de Van Gogh from their album Lo que te conté mientras te hacías la dormida (2003).

This song explores the pain of a fading relationship, while still longing for what will never be. This frustrated desire can be directly linked to the concept of rumors, as both play with the idea of something that, however real it may seem, has no solid foundation. Like rumors, impossible desires are built on a distorted reality, a projection of what we want to happen, but which deep down we know is unattainable.

¡Hola, querida familia de Open Mic! Es un placer estar de vuelta en este rincón tan especial donde la música y la expresión se entrelazan de manera mágica. Esta semana, gracias nos embarcamos en un viaje sonoro en el que exploramos el tema de “Rumores”.

Los rumores suelen basarse en la esperanza, en la distorsión o exageración de pequeños hechos. En las relaciones, a veces estos rumores son alimentados por la idea de que algo podría cambiar, que ese amor que parecía perdido aún puede revivir. De alguna manera, un rumor es como un deseo imposible: una versión alternativa de la realidad que alimenta el corazón, aunque sea falsa. Es por eso que hoy les comparto el tema “Deseos de Cosas Imposibles” de la banda española de pop-rock, La Oreja de Van Gogh que pertenece a su álbum Lo que te conté mientras te hacías la dormida (2003).

En este tema. se explora el dolor de una relación que se desvanece, mientras se sigue anhelando lo que nunca será. Este deseo frustrado puede vincularse directamente con el concepto de los rumores, ya que ambos juegan con la idea de algo que, por más real que parezca, no tiene fundamento sólido. Al igual que los rumores, los deseos imposibles se construyen sobre una realidad distorsionada, una proyección de lo que queremos que suceda, pero que en el fondo sabemos que es inalcanzable.
